Karsten (Japanese: カズオ Kazuo) appears in Drifloon On the Wind!. His English voice actor is Bill Rogers and his Japanese voice actor is 川島得愛 Tokuyoshi Kawashima.
He is the husband of a Nurse Joy, the father of Marnie and Paige, and works at the Valley Windworks. Karsten is quite forgetful. He is known to have left his lunch at home twice in the same week.

Ampharos was first seen at Valley Windworks when Marnie came to bring Karsten his lunch he had forgotten. When Suddenly Team Rocket tries to steal it. Ampharos then used Thunder which quickly got rid of Team Rocket but ended up damaging the wires at the power plant in the explosion.
After Karsten fixed the turbines Ampharos powered it back up again with an Template:Type2 attack.
When Paige was carried off by the wind Ampharos attempted to make a shortcut by using ThunderPunch on the boulders in the way, which didn't work.
Ampharos's known moves are Thunder and ThunderPunch.
