Mightyena (Japanese: グラエナ Guraena) is a Dark-type Pokémon.

Behavior
Mightyena live in packs led by a dominate Alpha Male and his mate. These wolf-like pokemon use a number of vocal sounds to communicate with each other over a distance. When a scout sights prey, it alerts the pack with a loud howl. The pack divides into two groups for the hunt, one chasing the prey to a specific point, and the other jumping out in an ambush.

Mightyena first appeared during A Bite to Remember.
In Jirachi: Wishmaker, Butler owns a Mightyena which he uses in his acts.
Butch of Team Rocket owns a Mightyena.
Mightyena has also been seen used by many Team Magma grunts.

It shares some similarities with both canines and hyenas.
Name origin
Mightyena's name may be a combination of might and hyena. The German name starts with the word magna, which is Latin for great. The first part of the French name may come from a corruption of the word gray as Mightyena has partially gray fur.
