Route 22 is a short road from Viridian City to Route 23, the beginning of the Kanto Pokémon League's final challenge
The Rival will make two appearances here in the Generation I games. The first battle is optional and affects his team in Pokémon Yellow. The second battle is mandatory.
There's wild Pokémon both in the grass and in a small pond on Route 22.
