- In this episode, Team Rocket uses a variation of their motto.
- Ash has thoughts about evolving Cyndaquil, however, it doesn't evolve. This changes however, when it evolves in An Old Family Blend! when Ash brings it back to his team for the Lily of the Valley Conference.
Errors
- Satchel comments on Cyndaquil's "Flame Attack" which doesn't exist.
- When Ash is seen with all of the stolen Pokémon, a Totodile is there. However, there was no Totodile that was stolen, and Ash's was with Misty and Brock at the time.
- When Arbok and Weezing are blasted by Flamethrower in the next scene and Meowth says "Mama," his whiskers are not seen.
- Professor Elm refers to Mason as a male, despite the fact the character is later revealed to be female.
