Braille is a method of communication that uses raised dots as characters. Each letter of the English alphabet, along with the period and the comma, is represented by a two-by-three series of raised dots. In Pokémon Ruby, Saphirre, and Emerald, a strictly visual form of Braille is used to encode the instructions for opening the chambers that contain the three Regis. Braille inscriptions are also present in the Sevii Islands.
