Shadow Ball (Japanese: シャドーボール Shadow Ball) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation II.
Effect
In battle
Shadow Ball deals damage and has a 20% chance of lowering the target's Special Defense.
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Shadow Ball is Mewtwo's standard special move in Super Smash Bros. Melee. It is chargeable and moves in a zigzag fashion. Lucario, who debuted in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, uses Aura Sphere, which functions similarly.

Trivia
- Despite Template:Type2 moves running off the Pokémon's Attack prior to Generation IV, Shadow Ball has always lowered Special Defense.
- Although it is a Template:Type2 move, which does not affect Template:Type2 Pokémon, it has hit Template:Type2 Pokémon multiple times in the anime, an example of anime physics.
- Mewtwo used Shadow Ball in Mewtwo Strikes Back, despite it not being usable in the games until Generation II.
- All Template:Type2 Pokémon can learn Shadow Ball.
