I just heard from a guy named Karasu on PsTK's forum that the reason the English games were called Red and Blue was:

They changed red and green to red and blue, to show their respects for America. Her national flag consits of red, blue and white. Game freak said so...

Anyone know if this is accurate? Ketsuban 20:48, 13 May 2005 (UTC)

>I had heard it was because in America, red and green are traditionally Christmas colors, while Red and Blue are generally shown as opposing (such as in gender seperation). - Zeta

Koffing Sprites

Can someone move that picture up? I can't get it there. Porygon-Z 17:33, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Argh, wtf is up with this page. It's acting as if there's a 'br clear="all"' somewhere. Driving me insane. Tina δ 17:36, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Release Dates

Weren't the games released on 29 September, not 1 September, like it says in the sneak peek?--Hitmonlee 18:52, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

There is a lot of conflicting information about when exactly in September 1998 the US release was. Please provide more information about this "sneak peak". --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 18:10, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

10 years of catching goodness

Has it really been that long? I know the 10th anniversary passed a while ago, but... Wow, happy birthday RBY (and G, just so I don't leave it out. =P)! --Ricco 15:48, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Nah, the 10th anniversary of RG was two years ago. This is the true anniversary of Pokémon going worldwide. And Yellow's tenth (Japanese) anniversary isn't until a week from Friday, with its English ninth coming in a month. TTEchidna 02:56, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Scyther/Pinsir

Aren't these two pokémon version exclusive in red and blue? Scyther cannot be obtained in Blue's Game corner (As the Scyther (Pokémon) page says) and it can also not be caught in Blue's Safari zone. I believe vice versa is true for Pinsir. Da Rammo 08:19, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Skull & Bones

In the Koffing picture, it says that the skull and crossbones on the sprite of Koffing in Red and Blue picture is wrongly placed. How does this person know that the Red and Blue picture is wrong. Red and Blue is one of Nintendo's first Pokémon games. That might have been the one Nintendo intended to use, but they got mixed up and put skull and crossbones below the mouth... - Hazardous FIRE! 05:13, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Because RBG's sprites sucked. They were the initial designs of the Pokémon, later improved. TTEchidna 05:39, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Don't blame it on the sprites; it was the spriter's fault.--☆Tavisource 05:41, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Strike that. RB's sprites sucked. Even Red/Green had the correct Koffing, and it was out before Blue. TTEchidna 05:44, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Let's just say they were ignorant....(end of story)--☆Tavisource 05:47, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Should we make a page showing most of the sprite differences? (The reason why i moved this down is because im continuing the conversation if you have any problems witht his tell me on my talk page) --Landfish7 21:51, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Battery?

I should know this, but are there internal batteries in R/B/Y? Or was that only for G/S/C for the day/night function? R.A. Hunter B. 18:04, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

There are internal batteries in EVERY cartridge game. That's what lets them work, holds their save files, etc. Me and my fellow torchics agree on this - Sk8torchic. 17:17, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
How long do they last? R.A. Hunter B. 23:00, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Other Differences Between Pokémon Red and Blue

The intro scene in the English Pokémon Blue has Jigglypuff in place of Nidorino, just like the original Japanese Pokémon Blue. Also, some sources told me that there is an extra house in the eastern section of Kanto in Blue that is absent from Red. Is that correct?--Hitmonlee 01:47, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

And Red and FireRed have Nidorino in the intro. Where are you getting with this? As for the house, what part of eastern Kanto? If it isn't a specific part, then don't believe it. But I haven't noticed any changes between the games other than the over all color scheme, and Pokémon encounters. R.A. Hunter B. 02:04, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
About the house, I guess I was mis-informed. Thank you for clearing that up. But I know for a fact that the intro for Pokémon Red (both English and Japanese) and the intro for Pokémon Blue (again, both English and Japanese) are different.--Hitmonlee 02:27, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Yes, the intros were, in fact, different. I know this. JesusofSuburbia 17:43, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi, just to add on this, don't you guys think it would be useful to have a section (or even a page) that points out ALL differences between the two versions (not just Red an Blu, the others too)? I suggest this because the Pokémon that can be captured is not the only difference between the two games (as can be seen above). There's also stuff like encounter rates on Pokémon that are different (I don't know all of the differences, that's why I'm suggesting that some people should add them in). Just a suggestion!! Asdfasdgsdg 10:18, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

Can someone help me word this trivia I want to add.

I just looked at the boxes of Red and Blue and it says "Trade with red or blue to catch all 150 monsters" Thats the only time i think they referred Pokémon as "monsters".--Pokéboy93 22:09, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Color Change

When I was roaming the web, I this cool bit of info. It said that in Blue version (or Red- forget which one) by doing a certain buttun combo, you can swicth the color scheme to macth the other game. However, this only lasts until you turn of the game. So what i'm asking is that has anyone else tried this out? --Spritmaster 15:30:20 23 August 2009(UTC)

Yeah, that's how it is with all GB games played on a GBC, unless there's specific GBC support (like English and international Yellow or GS). You can do it with Red and Blue, the color codes are the same. TTEchidna 18:11, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Blastoise and Blue

Is the fact that Blastoise and Blue start with the same letter really worthy of a trivia entry? Schreiber 15:44, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

Eh, not really. R.A. Hunter Blade 15:55, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
I don't think so because Pearl and Palkia/Diamond and Dialga/Ho-Oh and HeartGold start with the same letter too. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 15:56, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Alright, I'll remove it, unless someone wishes to argue otherwise. Schreiber 15:58, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
It was already removed. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 16:00, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

EU Release Date

How come the EU release date here says October 8th, yet on WP it says May 10th? Is one the English language release and the other the continental Europe release? TheChrisD RantsEdits 20:10, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

The staff in the United States tried to change the Pokémon design.

Source. http://www.nintendo.co.jp/nom/0007/taidan1/page03.html Tsunekazu Ishihara is testified to that it looked like CATS(Gekidan Shiki). poster.jpg Sawamular101 13:50, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Mankey/Oddish

dont know where, dont know how, haven't played it for at least 2 years, but i swear i have faced both these pokemon in Blue... Hanshenrik 21:50, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

Me too. I remember Oddish in all G1 games. It's Turtwig A! My talk or wiki edits 21:58, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
Are you sure it wasn't a trainer / Mew glitch? Also, are you sure it was a non-Japanese Blue version? OwnageMuch 06:46, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

No, it's been probably 10 years, but Oddish was definitely there because Vileplume was in my team (or "team" I should say, when I played Blue as a child I just trained by Blastoise to lvl 100 and kept the other five strongest pokemon I caught in my party but didn't train them at all, but this is besides the point). I definitely remember Oddish in the game. Mankey may have been trade-exclusive. But Oddish was not. Frenchhorn 02:45, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Pokedex Entry for Geodude

I was playing through Pokemon Red, but then when it showed the Dex Entry, it made Graveler's cry. What happened? Is this a glitch or something? -- Pokemon Trainer Bowser Jr. 10:52, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

I think the problem is because of this. Marked +-+-+ 10:57, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
