A status ailment healing item is a type of item from the Pokémon games. They can be used during or outside of a battle to heal a Pokémon's status ailment. They can often be found on the ground, whether readily visible or hidden from sight and requiring an Itemfinder to locate, and can be bought at nearly every Poké Mart.

Old Gateau's name in both English and Japanese is a pun based on the location it is found. In English, the French word gateau ("cake") plays on Chateau.
