Dayton (Japanese: ダイキ Daiki) is a character of the day from the episode Takin' it on the Chinchou. He lives with his father in Blue Lagoon on Blue Point Isle.
He and his father were in charge of the annual Chinchou parade in Blue Lagoon. With his own Chinchou, Bright, leading the way, Dayton journeyed with Ash so they could reach the shore. While heading there, Dayton fell off the side of a mountain. Bright, along with the other Chinchou, detected where he was by using their antennae.
The two finally reached the shore, but Team Rocket attempted to steal all of the Chinchou. Ash had a hard time freeing them with Pikachu and his other Pokémon, but Dayton had Bright and the other Chinchou use Spark to set themselves free from the cage. In the process, Team Rocket was sent blasting off.
Dayton approached Bright and wished him good luck on his journey to the sea. Bright then left his Trainer for a life in the seas of the Whirl Islands.

Dayton's Chinchou, Bright (Jp: ブライト Bright), was leading the Blue Lagoon annual Chinchou parade. When Ash and his friends arrived in Blue Lagoon, Misty attempted to capture it, thinking it was a wild Pokémon, Dayton chased after it, but Ash cornered it but was zapped. Later, the festival began and Bright lead the town's other Chinchou through the town, and eventually on a journey to the shore some distance from the town. Their first stop came upon a rope-bridge hanging over a cliff. Bright didn't really want to go, because it was scared, but Dayton encouraged it and they started off. Suddenly, Team Rocket appeared but this time their gizmo did not work and Pikachu sent them blasting off. Ash, Dayton and a portion of the Chinchou were seperated from Brock, Misty, Dayton's father and the other Chinchou. Dayton's father advised them to look for another way to the beach on their own.
Through the night, the Chinchou walked on and eventually got very tired because they hadn't been given water, but Ash sent out Totodile and refreshed them. They eventually came to the mountains with a narrow path. Suddenly, Dayton tripped and fell down a cliff. Ash and the Chinchou shouted for him but there came no answer. The Chinchou decided to walk down the valley, where they found Dayton unharmed. The sun rose and they finally reached the beach, but at the moment the Chinchou were about to be reunited with the other Chinchou, Team Rocket appeared and grabbed all of them. In the end, all the Chinchou worked together and broke Team Rocket's net, ultimately sending Team Rocket blasting off once again.
The time came when Dayton had to release Bright. At first Dayton did not want Bright to go, but in the end a wave sweeped Bright and its group into the ocean, on to a new life.
Chinchou's known moves are Spark, Flash, and Thunder Wave.
