:No. It is possible that there are more Pokémon with that type combination in Generation VI, a la Drapion and Stunky family in Generation IV.--'''[[User:Dennou Zenshi|<font color="#AB0909">電</font><font color="#063A73">禅</font>]]<small>[[User talk:Dennou Zenshi|<font color="#fff" face="Tahoma"><span style="text-shadow:#000 0.2em 0.1em 0.1em; class=texhtml">Den Zen</span></font>]]</small>''' 22:23, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

== Hmm, interesting ==
Dark+Psychic is interesting
Dark is weak to Fighting and Bug
Psychic is weak to Bug, Dark, and Ghost
so thus, Bug will deal 4x the damage on this Pokemon and its evolution, am I right?
(Hopefully, Inkay and Malamar can learn counter bug moves)

Guess what again

Pikachu calls, the inch is wrong but in metric... it's the same as older Pokémon. What's with these Mons off by 1 inch in either way? Marked +-+-+ (talk) 10:20, 11 July 2013 (UTC) Nevermind. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 10:25, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Name origin

Just as the Japanese love their punny names, turns out that mā īka (まあ、いいか) is an expression that means something like "well, isn't that good?", very commonly used by carefree characters like Luffy from One Piece. Thought it'd be worth a mention. --Kaoz (talk) 17:39, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Speaking of which, the English name seems to be simply a corruption of 'Inky' Benjabby (talk) 16:28, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

Or, in an attempt to translate the agreeing pun, it could be ink + okay.--Kaoz (talk) 16:45, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
I'd go so far as to say it's from the variant "m'kay" which sounds quite similar. TorchicBlaziken (talkedits) 18:33, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

New Section

Anon here, I once saw a page with a bunch of XY rumors. Most were confirmed. I can deduce by this that Inkay evolves into Malamar when you hold the DS upside down. GIMMICK MUCH?!!?- unsigned comment from Drakus (talkcontribs)

Just because most of the things were true doesn't really mean they ALL are, the person could have just put some fake info in just for fun. -EVsandIVsaurs 18:40, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
In fact, some of it is confirmed false, take this for example: •The professor’s English name is Patrice•
That was one of the leaks, but his name is Professor Augustine Sycamore, not Patrice -EVsandIVsaurs 18:54, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

Same anon here again. Pokemon is running out of ideas so it would;t be surprising- unsigned comment from Drakus (talkcontribs)

That's speculation though, if you want to speculate, please go to the Forums. (also, sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~))-EVsandIVsaurs 19:13, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

Last word on the subject: Malamar looks like an inverted Inkay, and Malamar is called the OVERTURNING pokemon. Huh? HUH? Drakus (talk) 22:47, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

(IVsaur, in regards to the Sycamore thing you mentioned a few posts above:) I agree that the rumors must not be included until each is officially confirmed, but I think it's pertinent to mention that there were two separate professors mentioned in the rumors. Just because one's name is confirmed doesn't mean the other won't be Patrice. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 00:16, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
Well, we will have to wait until it is confirmed to be true before adding it to the article. Remember, this is to help improve the article, unless you have seen proof from an official source that we can use. --Super goku (talk) 02:53, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

name origin

how about ink and spray, because squids tend to squirt ink. 0danmaster0 (talk) 17:42, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

really? no-one even replied to this post? 0danmaster0 (talk) 16:51, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Korean name for Inkay, plus possible English meaning

Its Korean name is 오케이징 Okeijing.

  • 오케이 okei is "OK".
  • 오징어 ojing'eo means inkfish.
This may give a bit of meaning to the English name... the "Kay" in "Inkay" could be the "Kay" in "OK(ay)"? -- Nick15 (talk) 18:58, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

Trivia

Are we going to say something about it being the first dark/psychic type family?- unsigned comment from Pokeprof1 (talkcontribs)

No. It is possible that there are more Pokémon with that type combination in Generation VI, a la Drapion and Stunky family in Generation IV.--Den Zen 22:23, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
