So, how would ring target work with the ability Wonder Guard? Does it simply make the immune moves (aka normal and fighting) hit for 1x damage, making them ineffective against Shedinja OR does it take every immunity granted by Wonder Guard and make Shedinja vulnerable? :The attacks would still have no effect on Shedinja, but let's say that someone gave Wonder Guard to a Spiritomb. If Spiritomb had a Ring Target, Fighting attacks become Super Effective and thus will not be protected by Wonder Guard. Curious trivia
In at least Generation III, attempting to use a Normal or Fighting-type move on a Shedinja will yield "Shedinja avoided damage with Wonder Guard!" despite that the move would not be expected to have an effect on Shedinja's Ghost typing anyway.
In at least Generation VI, the game instead declares "It doesn't affect Shedinja...", with the type immunity taking priority over Wonder Guard.
I haven't tested what the games say in Gen IV or V, or if there are any further implications of the change in messages displayed. --Stratelier 07:38, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
- This also happens in Generation V. Not sure about Generation IV, though. Eridanus (talk) 13:59, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
- I just tested this in HeartGold against a Furret using Quick Attack. It said exactly this: "SHEDINJA avoided damage by using Wonder Guard!" --GuyPerfect (talk) 16:41, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
Wonder Guard + Ring Target
So, how would ring target work with the ability Wonder Guard? Does it simply make the immune moves (aka normal and fighting) hit for 1x damage, making them ineffective against Shedinja OR does it take every immunity granted by Wonder Guard and make Shedinja vulnerable? (Arcalargo (talk) 21:24, 10 May 2016 (UTC))
- The attacks would still have no effect on Shedinja, but let's say that someone gave Wonder Guard to a Spiritomb. If Spiritomb had a Ring Target, Fighting attacks become Super Effective and thus will not be protected by Wonder Guard. Unowninator (talk) 21:29, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
