Officer Jenny's Growlithe (Japanese: ジュンサーのガーディ Junsar's Gardie) is a Pokémon owned by many Officer Jenny in the Pokémon anime prior to the Best Wishes series.
History
Original series
Officer Jenny's Growlithe have been used in crime solving and serve as police dogs throughout much of the Pokémon world. Growlithe first appeared in The Case of the K-9 Caper!, where Ash and his friends met up with an Officer Jenny who trained Growlithe to act as police dogs. In this episode, the many Growlithe helped fend off Team Rocket.
A Growlithe owned by an Officer Jenny was also seen in The Fourth Round Rumble using a Flamethrower attack to shoot down Team Rocket's Meowth Balloon.
In Don't Touch That 'dile, Jenny's Growlithe was used to help locate a Totodile that was stolen by Team Rocket.
One was also used to locate Ash's missing Egg in An EGG-sighting Adventure!.
Advanced Generation series
In A Poached Ego!, an Officer Jenny's Growlithe was used to help catch the Pokémon poacher, Rico. Growlithe also appeared in the episode The Spheal of Approval.
In The Ribbon Cup Caper, Officer Jenny's Growlithe was used once again to stop Team Rocket, this time from stealing the Ribbon Cup.
Diamond & Pearl series
In All Dressed Up with Somewhere to Go!, an Officer Jenny wore a Growlithe hat during the Pokémon Dress-Up Contest, both as a reference to her Pokémon and to follow the cosplaying theme; Officer Jenny's Growlithe also appears in the episode.
Another Growlithe appeared in Pokémon Ranger and the Kidnapped Riolu! (Part 2) where it fought alongside Ash's friends and Solana against J's client's henchmen.
In Beating the Bustle and Hustle!, Growlithe participated in a fake Sinnoh Pokémon Hustle set up by Team Rocket. After Officer Jenny caught up to Azure and Crimson, Growlithe fought against Azure's Drowzee and managed to defeat it.
Best Wishes series
Growlithe reappeared in SS027.
Personality and characteristics
Growlithe was shown to be very loyal towards each Officer Jenny, as shown in their debut episode when one of the Growlithe was a puppy in a flashback.
Although Growlithe remains the "signature Pokémon" of many Officer Jennys, they will sometimes use different Pokémon. The Officer Jenny in Mutiny in the Bounty! used Growlithe's evolved form, Arcanine. In some parts of the Pokémon world, police forces will have special Pokémon teams, such as Spinarak in Spinarak Attack.
The Officer Jennys of Unova and Kalos do not use Growlithe, as they are not generally found in those regions. In Unova, the most common Pokémon Officer Jennys use are Herdier, and in Kalos, Manectric.
