Name origin

“The "Za" in its name may also be similar to the "Za" in Zacian and Zamazenta, meaning "the", so that its name means "the rude".” This line sounds very speculative to me. We’ve seen nothing that relates Zarude to Zacian or Zamazenta. --celadonk (talk) 20:09, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

I think so too (I'm not an etymology expert but I remember a character from a different game called "Zamorak", associated with war; of course that could be coincidental but raising it here in case there could be a possible rooting from "war" here). There is also https://ejje.weblio.jp/content/%E3%83%AB%E3%83%89 ; Rudo is of course a name (like Rudo the clown from Wario Land 3), but it's not necessarily inspired by Rudo either. Origin

I doubt it's based on this simply because of how obscure it is, but could it be inspired by the agropelter? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AgropelterTko1153 (talk) 05:55, 28 February 2020 (UTC)

Cool find! Unlikely, but if some kind of Phione-esque prevolution is revealed tomorrow, it might be worth a second look. SJ (talk) 08:51, 28 February 2020 (UTC)

Black Panther

It may be a stretch but is it possible that Zarude, with its dark coloration, claws, sharp teeth, and long tail, might have taken inspiration from a black panther?Robbie (talk) 22:21, 29 February 2020 (UTC)

Those are just extremely vague characteristics, those aren't exclusive to black panthers. That, and Zarude is very clearly not a panther.--ForceFire 04:40, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
