Seviper (Japanese: ハブネーク Habunake) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon. It is well-known for its ongoing feud against Zangoose.
Biology
Physiology
Seviper are fairly large snake Pokémon that are usually depicted scrunched up like an accordian. They're mostly black in color, but have several markings on their bodies. Seviper have yellow hexagon markings that run from their head to their tail, small yellow bumps where they touch the ground (this is presumably to help with movement) and various purple scar-like marks. Seviper has several different weapons it can use in battle, such as elongated red fangs that protrude from the mouth and a bladed tail which it can stab or swipe with. Seviper also have fierce red eyes that make it able to use attacks like Glare. It is theorized whether Seviper are distant relatives of the Ekans line, considering they are both snake Pokémon, can breed together and have similar behavioral patterns.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Seviper can create a horrible poison that it can channel through either the tail or fangs, quickly dispatching prey. A Seviper's tail also ends in a blade-like point, enabling it to use its signature move Poison Tail, which only Seviper can learn by leveling up.
Behavior
Seviper are bitter enemies with Zangoose, willing to battle them to the bitter end. It is suggested that this feud has lasted since the beginning of time.
Habitat
Unknown, though this Pokémon is found only found on Route 114, which suggests its habitat consists of grassy plains with sparse trees and mountains.
Diet
Main article: Pokémon food
Aside from the standard dish of Pokémon food, it is suggested that Seviper is a predator, and being the snake that it is, it likely goes after small rodent, bird, bug Pokémon, or baby Pokémon, and possibly even unborn eggs. Judging by the Pokémon that live in its habitat, it probably hunts Pokémon like Marill and Swablu.
In the anime
Seviper first appeared in A Tail with a Twist. Jessie was so impressed by how it beat up Ash's Treecko, that she just had to capture it. After it bit off a chunk of her hair accidentally, she beat it up with her own two hands. She then captured it in a Poké Ball.
The Battle Pike Queen Lucy owns a Seviper. She used it to fight off Team Rocket and to battle Ash's Donphan in Queen of the Serpentine.

Trivia
- In the most infamous Pokémon Trainer's Choice, Seviper was claimed to be an evolution of Arbok.
- Despite being known as Zangoose's worst enemy, they are both in the Ground egg group, meaning they can breed.
- The rivalry between Seviper and Zangoose is based on the relationship between the mongoose and the king cobra - the cobra is the largest venomous snake in the world, and the mongoose is one of its few predators.
- Seviper is the only Pokémon to this date that learns Poison Tail by leveling up - although the Ekans line can learn it by breeding.
Origin
Seviper is based on a viper or other venomous fanged snake.
Name origin
Seviper's name is a combination of sever and viper. Its Japanese name is a combination of 波布 habu and English snake.
