Release information
Neo Series
This card was included as a Trainer card in the Neo Genesis expansion with artwork by Keiji Kinebuchi, first released in the Japanese Gold, Silver, to a New World... expansion.
Black & White Series
Super Rod was later released as an Item card with a completely different effect in the Noble Victories expansion with new artwork by 5ban Graphics, first released in the Japanese Red Collection. It was reprinted as a Tinsel Holofoil in the Dragon Vault, first released in the Japanese Dragon Selection subset.
XY Series
Super Rod was reprinted again with new artwork by Toyste Beach in the BREAKthrough expansion, first released in the Japanese Noivern BREAK Evolution Pack. It was later reprinted in the Japanese BREAK Starter Pack.
Sun & Moon Series
During the Sun & Moon Series, Super Rod was reprinted in the Japanese Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Deck Build Boxes, a set of competitive-play focused products that reprinted popular and useful cards that people used in recent tournaments. The print retained the XY Series layout for Trainer cards.
Scarlet & Violet Series
Super Rod was included as both a Regular card and a hyper rare in the Paldea Evolved expansion, first released in the Japanese Snow Hazard expansion. Both prints feature new artwork by Toyste Beach. The card received a slight text change to include the phrase up to, in order to give players the option to take fewer than the maximum number of cards. In Japan, the Regular print was reprinted in the Ruler of the Black Flame Deck Build Box, in both Terastal Starter Sets, the Venusaur & Charizard & Blastoise Special Deck Set ex, the Shiny Treasure ex subset, both Starter Deck & Build Sets, the Battle Master Deck Terastal Charizard ex, and the Stellar Miracle Deck Build Box.
The Regular print was also reprinted as one of seven SV-P Promotional cards available in Pokémon Card Gym Promo Card Pack 7, which was distributed at Pokémon Card Gym venues able to do so from July 19, 2024.[1] This print features the Pokémon Card Gym logo.
The BREAKthrough print of Super Rod was reprinted in Holofoil for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic, although it uses its Scarlet & Violet Series text. This reprint lacks a regulation mark and is thus not legal for tournament play.
