Indigo Academy (Japanese: セキエイ学園 Sekiei Academy) is an anime-exclusive boarding school in Kanto, located near Route 22. Liko attends the school in Pokémon Horizons: The Series.

Overview

To enter Indigo Academy, a potential student must complete several interviews with teachers to define their skills and interests with their potential Pokémon partners.

As part of the Indigo Academy initiation process, the Headmistress gives a talk about the Pokémon world, and soon after, the teachers give the students their respective Rotom Phones and first partner Pokémon. The Academy's subjects cover aspects of the Pokémon world, such as battle methods, partnership, and friendship with the respective Pokémon partner.

Despite being mostly face-to-face, Indigo Academy has a distance learning modality. In this case, the class is broadcast live via a Rotom Phone for students to watch.

History

In The Pendant That Starts It All (Part One), Liko began her classes at Indigo Academy and, after receiving her first Pokémon and meeting her roommate Ann, she spent a few days adapting to her new Pokémon partner. Later, the Indigo Academy was the site of the first clash between the Rising Volt Tacklers and the Explorers.

In For Sure! 'Cause Sprigatito's with Me!, Liko revealed to Ann that she would only participate remotely in classes from then on.

A day of classes at Indigo Academy

As Liko started traveling with the Rising Volt Tacklers, the Indigo Academy started to appear in some specific events during the plot of Pokémon Horizons: The Series.

In The Door That Never Opens, Liko was briefly shown participating in an online class.

In The Lonely Hatenna, Liko was seen finishing participating in a class, after which Liko talked a little with Ann about the task they received which involved what each of the students would like to be in the future.

In HZ035, Liko was shown participating in an another online class, this time the objective of the class was for each student to choose a Trainer and their Pokémon and write a dissertation about it.

The Indigo Academy briefly appeared in a flashback in HZ040, where it was revealed that a group of Pokémon Breeders joined the teachers during each student's interviews. These Pokémon Breeders are responsible for raising the first partner Pokémon that will go to each of the students. In this episode, Liko met Manya, one of these breeders.

In HZ046, Liko transferred to Naranja Academy and it was revealed that Ann did the same.

Locations

Auditorium: During the beginning of the school year, students receive a lecture in the auditorium about the World of Pokémon from the Headmistress.

Battlefields: Battlefields are available for students to use to practice their battling. In The Pendant That Starts It All (Part One), Ann and Liko watched as a Machoke battled against an Espeon on one of the battlefields. Later, they had a battle against each other with their Oshawott and Sprigatito, respectively.

Dorms: It is shown that each student at Indigo Academy has a room that they share with another classmate. Liko shared her room with Ann during her stay there. Liko and Ann's room is number 303.

Clocktower: Indigo Academy has a clocktower, where Friede and Amethio have their first battle there during Liko's escape from the Explorers.
