The Nintendo DS is Nintendo's latest addition to their handheld line-up. Some features of the DS include:
- Two screens, one of which is touch-sensitive
- Audio reception and perception
- Built in wireless connection via WiFi
- Backwards compatibility with Game Boy Advance games (though multiplayer functions for GBA games are not supported).

So far, the three Pokémon games have been released for the DS and another three have been announced:
