Wailord (Japanese: ホエルオー Whaloh) is a Water-type Pokémon.
At fourteen and one half meters, Wailord is the largest Pokémon known to man. Despite its immense size, it can still breed with a Pokémon as small as Skitty.
Pokédex entries
- Pokémon Ruby
- Wailord is the largest of all identified Pokémon up to now. This giant Pokémon swims languorously in the vast open sea, eating massive amounts of food at once with its enormous mouth.
- Pokémon Emerald
- It breathes through nostrils that it raises above the sea. By inhaling to its maximum capacity, a Wailord can dive close to 10,000 feet beneath the waves.
Name origin
Wailord's name is a combination of whale and lord. The wail may also refer to the sound that whales and this Pokémon may make.
Its Japanese name is probably a combination of whale and 王 ō, king.
This Pokémon is based on the blue whale, the world's biggest animal.
