(Japanese: ナエトル Naetle) is a Grass-type Pokémon. Along with Hikozaru and Pochama, it is one of the three starter Pokémon available at the beginning of the Generation IV games.

Naetle comes with the ability Overgrow, which increases the power of Grass-type attacks by 50% once the Pokémon has less than one-third of its maximum HP.

Name origin

Derived from 苗 nae, the Japanese word for sprout, and turtle.

As its name implies, Naetle is based on a snapping turtle with plant characteristics.

In the Anime

As with the Hoenn Saga, each of the three characters will capture a starter Pokemon. Ash will obtain Naetle in the Diamond and Pearl anime.
