Lopunny (Japanese: ミミロップ Mimilop) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.
It evolves from Buneary via Happiness.
Biology
Physiology
Lopunny are bipedal Pokémon that are based off of real-life rabbits. They stand at approximately three to four feet tall, with a dark brown pelt, long, warm ears and round tails. They also have a fluffy, cream pelt that is found on the ends of their ears, legs and arms, as well as distinctive large 'eyebrows'. Lopunny have black pupils with red irises, with small black noses and pink inner ears. Despite Lopunny's feminine appearance, they have a 1:1 gender ratio.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Lopunny have been found with the abilities Cute Charm or Klutz. Cute Charm infatuates foes on contact if they are the opposite gender to Lopuuny. Klutz places Lopunny at a disadvantage, which renders it unable to use held items in battle. Lopunny is also the only Pokémon to learn the move Return by leveling up; this is likely related to the fact that it evolves by happiness. It also learns a few psychic moves such as Mirror Coat and Healing Wish by leveling up. Being Normal-typed Pokémon, Lopunny are able to learn a variety of TM across many different types, enabling a flexible moveset.
Behavior
These Pokémon are normally very cautious and timid.
Habitat
They seem to prefer forests and grasslands.

Trivia
- Lopunny is, so far, the only Pokémon that can learn Return by leveling up.
- Its pre-evolution learns Frustration at the same level, and is also the only one to learn it by leveling up.
- Contrary to popular belief, Lopunny does not have black scleras. They are instead black markings, which is evident in its 3D model. This does not seem true in the anime, however.
Origin
Lopunny appears to be a caricature of a Playboy Bunny or other bunny girls as seen in popular culture. The bunny girl costumes of Playboy fame are still quite popular in Japanese adult media, which might explain the Lopunny's coquettish cry and girlish figure. It is also likely based on the lop rabbit, or more specifically the Holland Lop.
Name origin
Lopunny is a combination of lop and bunny. Its Japanese name Mimilop is a combination of 耳 (mimi) meaning "ear" and "lop", which is a type of rabbit with ears that flop over rather than standing erect.
In other languages
- German: Schlapor: wordplay on "Schlappohr" (colloquial term for "bunny" hinting at hanging ears)
- French: Lockpin: from "Dreadlocks and "Lapin" (Bunny)
- Korean: 이어롭 Earlop - From English ear and lop.
- Chinese: 垂耳兔 Sui Er Tu
