Magma Storm (Japanese: マグマストーム) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation IV, and is Heatran's signature move. It is considered a more powerful form of Fire Spin.

Effect

Magma Storm traps the target in pillars of fire for 2-5 turns and inflicts damage at the end of each turn. Even if the user of Magma Storm is holding a Grip Claw, the duration of Magma Storm is always 5 turns.

If a wild Pokémon uses Magma Storm on the player's Pokémon, the player may escape if his or her Pokémon has the Run Away ability. However, Run Away does not allow the player to switch the Pokémon out.
