• The dub title is a pun of "Just one of the guys."
• In this episode, Team Rocket uses a variation of their motto.
• This episode marks one of the rare times Ash uses a different line-up of Pokémon in a rematch against a Gym Leader to that he used in his first match, in this case he substitutes his Taillow for his Corphish (although it should be noted Ash caught Corphish after his first match against Brawly).

Errors

• When Hariyama used Vital Throw on Treecko, it managed to dodge the attack, but in the games, it never misses.
