Synopsis

After yet another attempt at stealing Pikachu from Ash, Jessie, James and Meowth blow it again and, after a little tiff, decide to go their seperate ways.

Cut to the Opening Credits.

Afterwards, Ash and company are heading for Pewter City and as they pass through Sable City, they notice a one-day only Pokémon Tournament is being held there. Ash decides to enter the tournament as use it as a warm-up for the near-at-hand battle with Pyramid King Brandon, but what Ash and co. don't know is that this tournament is actually an evil plan cooked up by Cassidy and Butch, and while Butch is convincing several trainers to sign up, Cassidy is disguised as Nurse Joy and is working at the sign-up desk.

The first match is Ash and Corphish vs. Howie and Pinsir. Corphish starts off with a Vice Grip, but Pinsir quickly counters the attack. Ash tells Corphish to use Crabhammer, but Howie has Pinsir counter with Guillotine. Outside the arena, Jessie, James and Meowth enter the building. Jessie notices the tournament is happening and decides to steal the Pokémon. James and Mime Jr. come across the building and get the same reaction Jessie had. Meowth just decides to check it out.

Back inside the arena, Pinsir knocks Corphish hard with Seismic Toss, and is about to administer the finishing blow with Guillotine, but Ash tells Corphish to use Harden and a Crabhammer to finish it up! Ash and Corphish win the first match!

James and Mime Jr. are wandering around the arena, until they encounter Jessie, who look away at each other in disgust. Afterwards, they encounter Cassidy, who is still wearing the Nurse Joy costume. Cassidy tells Jessie and James about hers and Butch's latest evil plan, and after she and Butch were invited to the surprise parties for Giovanni and Doc Namba. Cassidy then convinces reluctant James to help her with the evil plan.
