Spiritomb (Japanese: ミカルゲ Mikaruge) is a Ghost/Dark-type Pokémon. It is notable for being one of the few Pokémon introduced in Generation IV that does not evolve. It is also notable in that it is the second Pokémon with no weaknesses, the first being Sableye.

Spiritomb is the second Pokémon created which is weak to no type. The first was Sableye.

Origin

Spiritomb is based on a crystal ball. It also based on a Buddhist tradition performed on New Year's Eve in Japan. A bell is rung 108 times to chase away the 108 temptations in order to achieve nirvana.

Name origin

Its name may come from mika (甕), meaning jar or urn, referring to its being a container of souls; and karuishi (軽石), pumice, referring to its base, the Crucial Stone. Spiritomb is a combination of "spirit" and "tomb".
