Celebi (Japanese: セレビィ Celebi) is a Legendary Psychic/Grass-type Pokémon, first appearing in Generation II. It has only been officially available in the Japanese version of Pokémon Crystal (via Nintendo's Mobile System GB service, which was discontinued on December 14, 2002) and through the Japanese Pokémon Colosseum bonus disk, as well as various promotional events.
Celebi comes with the ability Natural Cure, which heals a status ailment when the Pokémon is withdrawn from battle.
Celebi does not evolve and is the last Pokémon in both the Johto Dex and National Dex within Generation II.
Biology
Physiology
Celebi is a green fairy-like creature. Celebi has round, toe-less feet, three-fingered hands and clear wings on its back. Celebi has a round head that comes to a point and sticks upward in the back, large baby-blue eyes with black rings around them and a pair of green antenna that are tipped blue.
Gender differences
Celebi is genderless.
Special abilities
Celebi has the power to travel through time. Celebi can restore plants to perfect health (an ability that is also accredited to Meganium). Celebi mainly attacks with Grass and Psychic attacks.

In the anime
Celebi first appeared in Pokémon 4Ever. A Pokémon hunter was after it and Celebi traveled 40 years into future to escape from him; taking the young Sammy Oak along with it. Vicious eventually captured the Time traveling Pokémon in a Dark Ball and used it to destroy the forest. Ash and Sammy managed to snap Celebi out of The Iron Masked Maruader's control.
Celebi also made an appearance in Pokémon Chronicles. In the episode it was in, Celebi took Ritchie back in time to help stop the destruction of a Pokémon Center.
Celebi also appeared in Green Guardian. The Pokémon Ranger, Solana accompanied Ash and friends in helping the Time Traveling Pokémon.
In the manga
In Pokémon Special, Ruby has a Celebi that he tries to keep a secret from everyone.
In the TCG
Other appearances
Super Smash Brothers Melee
When a Pokéball is thrown, there is a 1 in 251 chance of Celebi appearing after all these requirements have been fulfilled:
- Unlock all 25 characters
- Unlock all 29 stages
- Beat all 51 events
- Unlock the score display (by reaching 5000 KOs.)
It does not affect the battle but the thrower of the Pokéball will earn a bonus and trophy of Celebi.
