::Yeah, I think that was from when we used to grab from filb.de. If you look at the rest of Ash's team, everything has been updated with clearer 1280x720p images (barring Snorlax, Noctowl, and Donphan, but I'm working on those as we speak). I know this is an old topic but I have to know... Why is it okay to assum Bayleaf is feamle because it likes ash but it's not okay to assume Bulbasaur is male because it likes mays Venusaur? Gender

We know its a female how? - unsigned comment from Lego3400 (talkcontribs)

First off, please sign your comments with ~~~~. Secondly, I don't think we do officially, but it just seems to be the case. --TTEchidna 01:40, 12 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Or do we officially? Anyone? When was it confirmed as a female Bayleef? Did it, like, get Charizard or Totodile having the hots for it? TTEchidna 21:50, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
on the ash's bayleef page it says its confirmed to be female Time to eat AND sleep 10:57, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
People assume it. Every doubts there'd of been homosexuals in a cartoon. So if Chikorita/Bayleef does have, as TTEchinda says 'the hots' for Ash, then people assume it's a girl. SD13 Simpsondude13>SD13 Talk 11:31, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
You know, Bayleef might not know if Ash is even a boy.... --Force Fire talk 11:36, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Why is it okay to use "The hots" for Ash to confirm that Bayleef is female but you can't say Meowth is male because he has had "the hots" for some clearly female Pokémon. -Sketch 12:23, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
we can't. However, a nurse joy called her "she". Not exactly enough for me, but, w/e. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 12:34, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Meowth also has "the hots" for Giovanni.
Bayleef is feminine to Bulbasaur's masculine but both genders are not technically confirmed in canon. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 13:03, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Meowth doesn't have the "hots" for Giovanni. Its more of an effort to please him, nothing more. Just because he has weird fantasies about him, it doesn't mean he has anything for him. Jmath 13:08, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Girl

Long before I created the account I saw Bayleef's article and it said her voice actress in both Japanese and English is Mika Kanai

That doesn't prove squat. Pikachu's voice is a girl. Does that mean it's female. Bulbasaur voice is a girl. Does that mean it's female as well. Oh yeah, and Ash is voiced by girls in Japan and America. Well... I think I made my point. That evidence means nothing. The best thing we got is that Bayleef has romantic feelings for Ash and even that's not strong enough. --ケンジガール 00:07, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bayleef's gender

When Bayleef was Chikorita it use to hug Ash as if he was a male Chikorita so that proves it - unsigned comment from Livinlarge18 (talkcontribs)

First of all, what does it prove, that Bayleef is male or female? Secondly, how can you tell by the way it hugs what gender it is? --PAK Man Talk 01:39, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Everyone knows hugs are stylistically different between males and females of a species that we haven't been shown the difference between. Duuuuuuh. TTEchidna 02:14, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Livinlarge18, have you ever heard of homosexuals? I can't believe someone could be that close minded. --ケンジガール 04:16, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
^ Fail. There aren't homosexual Pokémon, according to the games.
^ ultimate fail. Game=/= anime--Force Fire talk 10:20, 1 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
^ A whole new level fail. If they wanted Bayleef to be homosexual, the how come that they never hinted at it being male?
Not to mention that an anime as kiddy as Pokémon is extremely unlikely to invent the concept of homosexual Pokémon. Spideym 05:05, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
You know, A kid might not know what a Homosexual is, So it's actually safe to have Homosexuals in a kids show.--Force Fire talk 05:08, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
If that was the case, they would include a hint at Bayleef being a male, so that older viewers would get it. Which they never did, hence Bayleef is officially a female. Spideym 05:15, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Officially. *laughs* See Ash's Bulbasaur and Charizard's talk pages. ht14 05:16, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
I did. People there are insane, as some went as far as to suggest that Charla is a cross-dresser male Charizard _-_ - unsigned comment from Spideym (talkcontribs)
Pokémon don't need to be hinted upon to know their gender.--Force Fire talk 05:23, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
But the writers wouldn't have hinted at Bayleef being female if they didn't intend it to be. Spideym 05:28, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

If i remember if right, Gary called Bayleef a she in the Silver Conference battle. *tc26* 05:29, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

There is something called a dub edit, The Japanese writer might not claim Bayleef's gender, But 4Kids might've to bring more speculation.--Force Fire talk 05:30, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
This is stupid. Can we drop this now? I mean this conversation was like a year old to begin with and this guy had to go and revive it. --ケンジガール 05:32, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Meganium

Its too bad Bayleef hasn't evolved yet since Ash's Sceptile had a crush on a Meganium, so it would've made sense if Bayleef evolved. File:Ani006MS.gif Charizard and Lugia Rule! File:Ani249MS.gif

I think it hasn't evolved because even though it is still clearly a girl bayleef is the most male looking stage of that evolutionary line and I think since most of Ash's fans are boys they would want his pokemon to seem as male as possible.

Vine Whip

Anyone else think it's worth mentioning that chikorita can't learn vine whip in gen II? And even after that it requires breeding. Kanjo 02:01, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

No... If it can learn it, in any way, than its not unusual. It's apparently a common thing in the anime being that all of the Chikorita family members shown knew Vine Whip. This is mentioned on the Chikorita main page. --ケンジガール 02:31, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Trivia

Bayleef is the only one of ash's starter pokemon not to reach its final evolution

Who put that in the trivia, because it is so untrue. --Pokelova 09:07, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

New guy. I removed it already. --ケンジガール 09:10, 6 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

On hand?

The infobox says with Ash.

The Ash's Pokémon template says with Oak.

The article says Ash plans to use Bayleef in the Sinnoh League.

What's correct?--immewnitythemew 23:51, 18 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ya Im wondering that too . Is Ash gonna use Bayleaf in the league? is it confirmed?RBK 23:09, 14 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

The infobox shows it to be at Prof. Oak's lab. The AP template is correct. the article have been edited to show that Ash may or may not use Bayleef later on in the league battle. As with Ash's current battle with Paul, and a "scan" showing the Pokémon used in Ash's battle against Paul, there have been no sign of Ash using Bayleef. But we dun noe who will be battling Takuto, spoiler. --Ruixiang95 08:52, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Spoilers*** The only lead we have on the Takuto battle is the use of Ash's Heracross so unless this battle is out of the region on 1- on-1 (which will probably not be, Bayleef, in my opinion, will sadly not be used. --PickyChimchar 09.14, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Well, I think someone added it becuase its on the new oppening in the Japanise at the end. It shows a bunch of Ash's Pokemon. Maybe that's why. Or spoilers. --DragonZekrom 12:30, 16 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Picture

Could somebody who uploaded all of the previous DP182 appearances upload a HD version of her current pic? I can't find the episode anywhere when I torrent it,so I'm out of luck.--Cubic Question 05:33, 5 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
