{{rt|26|Kanto}}, one of the longest routes in Kanto history, stretches from the Kanto southwest to the [[Pokémon League Reception Gate]], where it intersects with {{rt|22|Kanto}}, {{rt|28|Kanto}}, and {{ka|Victory Road}}.  Follow the pier back to the mainland, and continue north.  The southern house (on the opposite side of the trees) is the home of the [[Weekday Siblings]], and the book on the table lists their names and locations across Johto.  Continue north, and visit the woman inside the northern house to have her heal your Pokémon to full health.  Battle past Cooltrainers Joyce, Gaven, and Jake, and you'll be just outside of the gates.  Circle around to get the Max Elixer, beat Cooltrainer{{female}} Beth, and enter the building.

This is the Bulbapedia walkthrough for Pokémon Gold and Silver. This walkthrough follows the original Game Boy Color version, not Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
The guide for those can be found here.

New Bark Town

Elm's Lab

Stop by his lab, and Professor Elm thanks you for helping with his research. As a token of his appreciation, he gives you a Master Ball! He tells you that it is only given to recognized Pokémon researchers, but he thinks that you could make a better use of it than he can. This ultimate form of Poké Ball catches any Pokémon without fail, regardless of the target. You may want to use it on one of the legendary beasts, though it may be a better choice to use it on Lugia or Ho-Oh instead.

Walk in front of your house, and surf east across the pond to reach Route 27, your first step into Kanto!

Western Route 27

Route 27 is the first location in the Kanto region that you will encounter. After surfing across the western pond, a nearby Trainer will notify you that you have just set foot into the new region. Beyond him, surf east along the southern part of the route to get a Rare Candy. Get back to dry land, and step inside the cave to enter Tohjo Falls.

TOHJO FALLS
The Link Between
Kanto and Johto

Before climbing the first waterfall, you can pick up a Moon Stone from the western shore. Climb the western waterfall, surf east, and ride the eastern waterfall south to the exit.

Eastern Route 27

Back outside, enter the nearby house and speak to the old woman there. If your lead Pokémon trusts you enough, she will give you TM37 (Sandstorm). Continue east, and you'll have to surf across the next pond. Battle past the next three Trainers, and surf southwest (past the whirlpool) to get TM22 (SolarBeam). Keep heading east, and you'll find Route 26.

Route 26

File:Route26.png
Route 26

Route 26, one of the longest routes in Kanto history, stretches from the Kanto southwest to the Pokémon League Reception Gate, where it intersects with Route 22, Route 28, and Victory Road. Follow the pier back to the mainland, and continue north. The southern house (on the opposite side of the trees) is the home of the Weekday Siblings, and the book on the table lists their names and locations across Johto. Continue north, and visit the woman inside the northern house to have her heal your Pokémon to full health. Battle past Cooltrainers Joyce, Gaven, and Jake, and you'll be just outside of the gates. Circle around to get the Max Elixer, beat Cooltrainer Beth, and enter the building.

Inside the Reception Gate, the first guard checks all passing Trainers for the eight badges of Johto. Beyond that, two other guards block the exits to Mt. Silver and Route 22. Head through the north doors, and you'll find yourself in Victory Road.

Victory Road

Victory Road, 1F

Victory Road, a grueling tunnel separating the Reception Gate and the Indigo Plateau, earned its name because all Trainers passing through are aiming for victory over the Elite Four. However, in the three years since Generation I, the cave has diminished, and is now devoid of any Trainers.

1F

From the entrance, step up onto the rock platform and head north. Turn right at the intersection, and loop around to the north to find a Max Revive and a Full Heal. Head left across the rock slab and take the stairs in the northwest to the second floor.

2F

File:2Victory2f.png
Victory Road, 2F

Head east across the stone platform and pick up the X Special. Go east, then north around the stone slab, and take the stairs to the third floor.

3F

Victory Road, 3F

Step up onto the stone platform and head west, then southeast, jumping the ledge to reach the second set of stairs leading from the second floor.

2F

Grab the Full Restore, jump the ledge, and head northwest to take the stairs back to the third floor.

3F

Walk northwest around the stone platform, and go all the way to the western wall. Drop down the hole to the second floor.

2F

Pick up the TM26 (Earthquake), and inspect the nearby boulder for a Max Potion. Jump the ledge to the west, and take the stairs back to the third floor one last time.

3F

With all the items collected, you can head northwest to the exit. Save your game before you step within three spaces of the cave's exit, because your rival will show up to challenge you again. He insults you, and considers himself "invincible", so why not show him just how invincible he is?

After the battle, step out of the cave, and you'll find yourself at the entrance to the Pokémon League at Indigo Plateau.
