Welcome!

Hello, TTEchidna, and welcome to Bulbapedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Bulbapedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. I have responded on my talk page. --TMF T - C 04:41, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

City/town maps

Hey. I just saw your map over at One Island (town) and I think it looks great. This goes along with a point I made at Bulbapedia talk:Project Cities and Towns (which is now active, BTW), in which I think all of the city maps, including the old GSC ones that already exist, should be replaced with new ones based on your new route maps. Do you think that you'd be up for a task like that? --TMF T - C 05:05, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes. I'll be able to do those as soon as I finish with the ones for all of the routes. And that means doing the articles for the routes, too. It might take a little while though, since I'm starting college next week and need to get settled in, but I'm sure I'll have all of the images ready by the end of the year at the latest. Especially since, hey, I get out for winter break on Thanksgiving.
That, and these ones'll be a whole lot easier, as I'm not animating them. And there's a lot less than the number of routes. Tom Temprotran 05:19, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
One more comment: when you do get to them (no rush), if you could upload them in the format "(Area name) map.png" (or .gif, etc.) (so, for Goldenrod City, it'd be "Goldenrod City map.png", One Island would be "One Island map.png"), that'd be great. It'd make the coding for the infobox much more easier and would also allow us to automatically add the maps to the infobox without having to edit every article. --TMF T - C 19:24, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Sure thing. Now to just make the articles for the Sevii Cities. Tom Temprotran 19:27, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Excessive categorisation

I don't think creating categories that contain only one article is appropriate. - 振霖T 04:52, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Its arguable if we even need categories for evolution methods, but if you're going to do it, at least make it more broad: IE - Pokemon that evolve by leveling up with a move, instead of one category for Aipom. Or Pokemon that evolve by leveling up in locations instead of breaking all those up into different categories (especially since I'm sure the Tengan mountains won't be the only place to trigger those evolutions in future generations). --Zeta 06:51, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

True... I guess I'll do that then. Tom Temprotran 07:18, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks!

Hey! Thanks for the hand with the abilities! Gambler 06:43, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Right! I'm working on an Excel database right now to control the lists, I think I have some mistakes right now. Also most D/P is not incorporated. I was thinking, how about if for Dual Ab we add below the PKMN the other ability those can have? Gambler 07:40, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Hm... Possibly. We'd have to make it so it's not confusing, though. Tom Temprotran 07:42, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Great idea for the teams! I was thinking of doing that. But maybe centered and in only one line would look better, don't you think? Gambler 03:35, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
If we could get the point and stuff across like that, certainly. But I dunno, gimme an example. Tom Temprotran 03:42, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

User tags

Kinda surprised you made 'em - I was waiting for some feedback first on those because of the number. Anyway, though, you know user tags are usually best kept in a userbox, done a la <div class="userbox">? Just thought it might be a good idea to start telling people about that since there's many more of 'em now... --Pie 14:43, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Wait, no, you didn't make those, Taylor did. Okay, I'm being dumb, sorry. I need to get more sleep. --Pie 18:17, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Yeah ya do. Of course, I do too. Don't worry, though, the weekend'll be here soon. Tom Temprotran 01:48, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm back!

Hey. I finally got things straightened out, more or less, over at Wikipedia, so I should have more free time to work with. The only problem is that I'm now a bit out of the loop on what's going on/what's happened here over the past two months. If you could give me an update, that'd be great. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 01:23, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Shiny Pokémon

Hey. Thanks a lot for making that page. I tried making it once, but I just ain´t that good on doing it. After all, I am new in this stuff. Yukushi wisdom 18:43, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, sometimes you need to get used to it first... Don't worry, it'll all fall into place eventually. Tom Temprotran 08:19, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Templates for Stadium & Stadium 2

Hello again. Noticed you added Stadium & Stadium 2 to your page. So I thought I could do a template for those. Yeah, I know. I THOUGHT I COULD. But it's hard, man! Can you help me out here?! (They're erased now.) - Yukushi wisdom 13:09, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

How exactly do you mean? Like for the various tournaments? Or just my sort of game-thing? Tom Temprotran 06:16, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
No I was just talking about a template page for stadium player/users. Just like Template:User Emerald, get it? Sorry I was unclear. Yukushi wisdom 19:26, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Ah, one of those! That's Template:User Stadium and Template:User Stadium 2. Just made 'em. Tom Temprotran 20:28, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Dude, you're the best. Thank you, thank you, thank you. By the way, where did you get the Mewtwo image?

Merging pages

The correct way to merge pages is to delete one of the pages to be merged (preferably the newer one or the one with fewer page views), rename the other to the deleted page, restore the deleted revisions, then rename again if required. - 振霖T 03:56, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Ah, all right. I'll make sure to do that next time. Tom Temprotran 03:58, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome and the help!

Hi, i'm new in all this wikipedia stuff so i think this is the way to make a comment (jajaja), here we go ... Thank you VERY much for correct the articles that i made, i speak english well but when i have to write it ... ¬¬ ... xD ... Lets say that i have some problems with the verbs. Thanks for the tips too ! ... See ya

PS: I have to put my signature in every article i made??

--Blizzard 23:56, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

No, don't put your signature in the articles you make. That's a bad idea. Put it on talk pages only. You'll know which ones those are. They're... well, like this one.
And it's sort of the opposite for me. I can type Spanish well, but when I get to speaking, I get all tied up. Tom Temprotran 01:04, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Jajaja, ok, thanks for the tips--Blizzard 01:42, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Certainly. Tom Temprotran 01:45, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Question

How do you delete pages? Carnivine

You have to have sysop privileges, I think. --TTEchidna 04:22, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Nice job!

You've put in a lot of pages today. Congrats! Carnivine

Thanks... --TTEchidna 19:30, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Template:Availability and Template:Dex

It might be a good idea to include games like ranger and mystery dungeon... they features game location and ranger, pinball, pinball rs,mystery dungeon, tcg features pokedex. Pokeant 05:15, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

However, realize, they're not like the standard games; you can't keep Pokémon there. A separate, side template would be better, and honestly, with all of the cards named Bulbasaur, it'd be just easier to keep what the Pokédex entry is on the card itself. I included the main games and the battle arena side games because those are, more or less, the game series, while everything else is a side game, separate from the continuity. --TTEchidna 05:24, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Heads Up

Just wanted to make you aware of somebody who is messing up a couple pages. There is a user going by the name of Pokemon!Alexander! who changed Domirror's name to Domirroar. I don't know if he's trying to be funny or what. He also struck a couple of days ago, changing Cherinbo to Cherinbobo. I've reverted both of his edits. Just wanted to make you aware, since you said to contact an admin if there's a problem. --PAK Man 03:27, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

I'll be on the lookout. Thanks for giving me a heads-up. --TTEchidna 03:28, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Previews

Thanks for the compliment. About the preview button; I use it so rarely on wikipedia, I forgot it was there.--Tempest115 21:55, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Alot of pokémon, Probopass for example, have their movesets nicely listed. Also, many pokémon whose movesets have changed with almost every game (Pikachu) have an expanded list to reflect this, Those lists would make excellent templates.--Tempest115 17:42, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Fourth Gen. (or Legendaries in general)

Do you know which , if any legendary pokémon don't or have set natures? I was looking at ypu user page and i notice that Jirachi and Deoxsys, among others, had no nature listed.--Tempest115 22:29, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Ignore that.--Tempest115 22:30, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

New Character Catergory Idea

Um, you know how some characters are named after real-world pokémon staff, right? Satoshi, Shigeru and Imakuni? to name a few. I suggest we make a new catergory -- characters named after real people. I understand the issue could be... complicated, so I thought I'd put it to one of the big cheeses here first ^_^ Manga-in-a-bottle 08:05, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Hmm... Seems like it'd be plausible. How many of those do we have, exactly? If it's something like ten, I'd say that it'd make a good category. --TTEchidna 17:00, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Ok, let's see...

That's seven. I don't know of any more... will it be enough? Manga-in-a-bottle 05:39, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, we do have categories with less... So I'd say go right ahead with it. Just make sure the category is named well. --TTEchidna 06:33, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Uh, yes... how do you create a new catergory, exactly? ^^; Manga-in-a-bottle 07:35, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, first off, it's spelled "Category", not "catergory", and essentially, you just type in, at the end of the pages which you want to categorize, "[[Category:(category name)]]". Then, of course, you click on the red link that appears in the categories section of that page, and you're instantly at the page titled in that category.

For example, when I was categorizing the Pokémon by their evolution family, for, oh, say, Arcanine, I typed in [[Category:Pokémon that are part of a two-stage evolutionary line]] in there. Pressing the preview button, it displayed a red link at the bottom which led to the then-blank page for that category. Editing it, and of course then categorizing the category under Category:Pokémon by evolutionary line (it's not often anymore that we'll have a new top-level category-- all of them fit somewhere), I was finished.

Bear in mind, I did this between Firefox tabs. I always do it that way, just opening the category in a new tab and editing it while I keep working on the article. Then there are never any red links... though I do sometimes open up like eight tabs simultaneously through editing ONE article...

Heck, right in the middle of typing this, I got inspired to make user browser tags...

...anyway! Um, any other questions, well, I'm glad to help. But for now, I sleep. --TTEchidna 08:27, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for helping me

Thanks for looking out for all the users out there, and thanks for helping me.

Conor

jeez is it like that here too?

I added some info as to a scientific explaination fro luxrays xray vsion.. After had evolving my luxio and seeing the pokedex entry for luxray, i was curious as to how that would work. I studied for close to two hours and this is how i think it would (most likely) work. I put it at wikipedia first but they took it off and said to put it here. So in conclusion WTF? Not angry or anything like that though, unless your just being an ass but there's probably a reason you took it off. --Dekubobo 18:08, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, it's a little bit on the fact that it's a bit too in-depth on x-ray radiation, not Luxray itself, which is what the article's on. Sure, it's good material for writing an explanation on how x-ray vision works, but that's not Luxray's only ability. Believe me, once we see that thing in the anime (and we will as some CotD's Pokémon, trust me), we'll get a wealth of new information on it.
Though I will admit your information on how Luxray would have x-ray vision biologically could be a nice addition to this Wikipedia article, if you generalized it to anything that could see like that. --TTEchidna 19:44, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Alright, thanks for clerifying that for me. It makes sense anyway that the information should have some relation to the actual character itself. --Dekubobo 15:18, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Yes, yes, quite so. Glad to help. --TTEchidna 19:17, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Pokédex Problem

Was editing pokedex entries for pearl version. I noticed inconsistencies with Height, Species, and Weight, as well as the actual pokédex entry. I posted on the Bulbapedia talk:Manual of style about it. I know the Uk version is not out yet, so it may be that previous contributors translated Japanese information. --Dekubobo 15:14, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Archives

My PC keeps coming up with the message that says you are forbiden, how do you stop this?

First off, it's good to sign your comments with four tildes in a row (~~~~). That way I know instantly who left the message.
Anyway, is it your computer saying you're forbidden, your browser, or the archives itself? Because if you just click on the upload file link right now and don't have an account on the archives, then of course you can't upload, and it'll say you're forbidden. You have to sign up again on the archives wiki (we really oughta have some sort of interconnecting system, but I dunno how we would), then log in over there as well as over here. Then you can upload files. --TTEchidna 21:38, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Animated Maps

If you're willing to share your resources I'd really appreciate it, it has to be better than drawing the highlights by hand! As far as the underground/other areas go, I've certainly no problem holding off on stuff like that. Thanks! - ShadowtrooperFile:MasterBallSpriteSmall.pngTalk 02:46, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

I really don't understand what I did wrong here

Unless there's some hidden rule I don't know about, I really don't see what the problem is with http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/w/index.php?title=Flower_Gift_%28ability%29&diff=139818&oldid=128555 this made, I thought it added to the article.

Plus that comment in the revision statement was really damn rude. Toastypk 17:20, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Because first, you didn't use the link template that we use for all Pokémon species links. Who knows if Dawn, Ash, or any main character'll get a Cherrim one day, and Cherrim will stop being a redirect, and end up like Munchlax? Second, it's listed below the initial description what Pokémon has the ability. We don't say "Only Rayquaza has Air Lock" on the article on Air Lock, because if you scroll down, it's obvious.
Also: I was imitating a buzzer noise. I might've been feeling a bit irritable that day, I don't remember. --TTEchidna 18:24, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
Well I've really only been here a little while so I'm not aware of most of the minutae here yet. I mostly joined to help fix the berry articles. Toastypk 19:00, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
I recommend reading over the manual of style and looking at many other, similar articles. That helps a lot.
And I'd like your thoughts: Should we bother splitting the berry flavors off between Gen III and IV, since quite a few changed? --TTEchidna 19:14, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Apologies

Hehe, apparently I wasn't supposed to have that "bulbapedia staff" userbox. Might I mention how confusing that userbox is? In general terminology, anyone who edits a Wiki is, in fact, an "editor" (just perhaps not in the professional sense). When I found the userbox in the userboxes category, I assumed the userbox represented anyone who edited this wiki, and thus added it to my page. -- Jioruji Derako.> 10:33, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, it's confusing, but eh, what're you gonna do? We're basically the editor's editors, we watch the recent changes for any... ugh, horrid grammar floating there, can't tell you how often I find that on pages... or pages just made of it and without categories... It breaks my heart.
Just make sure you check the title, though. It is Template:User Bulbapedia staff, anyway. --TTEchidna 23:21, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Yes, at the time I was in a userbox rampage... I just noticed the link on the word "editor" only yesterday. Apparently I'm blind. :P
Oh, but don't get me started on horrid grammar. I run into that way to often. But at the very least, it gives the rest of the editors something to do. Just sit there and keep an eye on Recent Changes. Doing searches for common "chatspeak" might bring up a few pages as well. -- Jioruji Derako.> 23:30, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Sadly, yes... We can't contribute as much to adding content if we have to constantly improve the quality. --TTEchidna 23:34, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Well true, but at the same time, this just gives others more chances to contribute. Not everyone has new information to contribute, but they're still good editors; they can put their coding expertise and whatnot to good use by fixing up submissions by editors that do have information, but perhaps aren't quite as good with editing. Research isn't one of my strong points, for example, but I'm always finding articles to clean up. If people stopped making mistakes, I'd probably be pretty bored on here. :D -- Jioruji Derako.> 01:03, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Absolutely true. But of course, then we'd have more time to clean up the already lengthening list of articles needing improvement, and maybe begin actual development of our walkthroughs... --TTEchidna 04:11, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Another good point. Simply an issue of more mistakes being made then mistakes being corrected... I'm not on here as often as I could be, but I'll try myself to start working over the stub and articles needing cleanup. I suppose my above point is entirely dependant on there actually being enough "cleanup editors" to balance out the "messy editors". -- Jioruji Derako.> 07:32, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
P.S.: Unrelated question, while I'm still here... I noticed your signature uses a inter-wiki link to go to your Wikipedia page, via "WP:" in front of the link. Does Bulbapedia have a code along the same lines? I never quite understood how that worked. -- Jioruji Derako.> 07:35, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Yes indeed... Sadly. Starting Project Cleanup would help a bit... but we gotta find willing victims volunteers.
And it's not to my page, it's just to... well, echidnas. They rule. And yes, the [[wp:whatever]] links to whatever article you want on Wikipedia, you just gotta remember to use the pipe so that it doesn't appear as wp:whatever in the text, and just as whatever. After all, I wanna say that echidnas are awesome, not wp:echidnas are awesome. There's a de, jp, and pl thing, too, to link to PokéWiki, Pokémon Wiki, and Wikinezka articles as well, but you have to have a colon in front as well as after the letters, as if you were linking to a category (instead of putting an article in a category) or linking an image as text. Like this! Otherwise it'll end up as a sidebar link, and you don't want that. --TTEchidna 07:45, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Will any wiki with a "wp:" code work on any other wiki? For example, the other wiki I use live on is GuildWiki. We use "gw:" to link there. Would a link of that sort actually work from here as well? And what letters would someone use to link back to Bulbapedia? "bp:" or something of the sort, I suppose...
And yes, I've already got a bit of experence with piping (if that's even a term). Another trick to avoid your link coming out like wp:Main Page would be to simply type [[wp:Main Page|]]. The coding will automatically fill in the blank spot, making that link appear like this: Main Page. In some situations where you don't want to use excessively long coding, or when you need to quickly convert a wiki-link to a inter-wiki-link, simply adding the "|" in there is a lot easier then typing the entire link twice over. -- Jioruji Derako.> 08:50, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Depends on how it's set up. I know for a fact that the HRWiki actually uses wikipedia: to link there, not wp:. It really depends on what prefix the administrator(s) put into use for cross-wiki linking, and gw: doesn't work here, I tried it. If there was a reason to link to them, though, talking to Zhen would be the idea. He's the one in charge.
And yep, I use that often. Too bad the Safari Zones aren't like that, though... --TTEchidna 19:14, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
