Klink (Japanese: ギアル Giaru) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It evolves into Klang starting at level 38, which evolves into Klinklang starting at level 49.

Biology

Physiology

Klink resembles two interlocking gears with six teeth each. The teeth of the gears are a light gray, while the central regions are much darker. Their left eyes are a simple "X", while their right eyes are very wide with a black pupil and a white cornea. They have round turquoise noses and small mouths that are held wide open.

Gender differences

Klink are a genderless species.

Behavior

Once two bodies have decided to join together to form a Klink, they cannot combine with any others or they will become separated.

Habitat

Klink live in caves and fields in the Unova region.

According to the Unova region's Professor, Professor Juniper, the first recorded evidence of this Pokémon dates to around 100 years ago, in the Chargestone Cave; she believes that they suddenly appeared in the cave at that time.

Diet

As Klink can generate the energy they need in order to live by spinning their gears, it is unknown if they need to eat actual food.

Klink and its evolutions appeared under the ownership of Mannes in White—Victini and Zekrom and Black—Victini and Reshiram.

Minor appearances

Klink made its TV debut in BW063. A swarm of them appeared inside Chargestone Cave along with a Klinklang.

• Klink and its evolutionary relatives are currently the only pure Steel-type Pokémon related by evolution.
• Klink represents June in the Unova horoscope.
• Klink and its evolutionary relatives are the only non-Electric-type Pokémon able to learn ThunderShock and Charge.
• Despite being genderless, it is depicted as a male in PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond.

Origin

Klink is based on a pair of interlocking gears, more specifically either spur, helical, or herringbone gears. The Klink line's Shiny coloration may have been based on copper gears, since their noses have turned green as copper does when it oxidizes into such compounds as copper carbonate, forming a patina. Klink also resembles the simplest concept of the perpetual motion machine, as it is just two gears which repeatedly spin each other.

Name origin

Klink is derived from "clink". It also includes the word "link", possibly referencing how the two gears are connected. Giaru is likely derived from ギア gia (gear).
