Trivia
Origin
Stoutland was based on a combination of a Shih Tzu and a Maltese with some characteristics from Yorkshire Terriers and Scottish Terriers . Its talent for rescuing humans in the mountains is similar to a St. Bernard's .
Name origin
Stoutland may be derived from the words "stout" (meaning bulky) and "land" (a reference to terriers , who have their name derived from the Latin terra meaning earth).
Its Japanese name may come from the Japanese word of muku meaning shaggy hair and shaggy dog, and rando , land.
