Pokémon Radio logo

Team Rocket's Secret Empire (Japanese: ロケット団ひみつ帝国 Rocket Gang's Secret Empire) is an official[1] Twitter account operating under the tag @Pokemon_Radio that was set up on June 2, 2012. It is being used to promote "Pokémon Radio", which began on July 1, 2012. The radio show and tweets are written by Pokémon's sound director Masafumi Mima.

The tweets are submitted in-character as Giovanni, and occasionally his Persian, Matori, Meowth, or James. The account reveals information about Team Rocket that is not currently found elsewhere. So far the account has made 978 tweets. The account's location is set as the Kanto region.

Origin

It is possibile that this revelation is related to a proposal by Megumi Hayashibara, a Japanese voice actress who provides the voices of many characters in the Pokémon anime including Jessie. Around a year ago, she told Pokémon's sound director Masafumi Mima that she wanted him to prepare "Team Rocket's Late Nights Radio" for the Team Rocket trio to appear in. He agreed to the idea, but nothing more has been heard about it since until now. Masafumi Mima, who is a great fan of Team Rocket himself, said on May 6, 2012 on his Twitter:
