Torrent (Japanese: げきりゅう Raging Rapids) is an Ability introduced in Generation III. Seventeen Pokémon have this Ability, all of which are Water-type and a majority of them Water-type starter Pokémon.

Effect

In battle

When a Pokémon with Torrent uses a Water-type move, the power will increase by 1.5× if the user has less than or equal to ⅓ of its maximum HP remaining.

Outside of battle

Torrent has no effect outside of battle.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Torrent will deal double the damage if the Pokémon using it is below 25% of its HP.

Pokémon Conquest

In Pokémon Conquest, Torrent will increase user's Attack if the Pokémon using it is below ⅓ of its HP.

Empoleon When Empoleon becomes weak or tired, its body becomes surrounded by a light blue aura for a few moments. Then, its eyes flash light blue as well. Empoleon's Water-type moves then get powered up.
