===Origin===
Snorunt is based on a "Yukinko", a Japanese sprite said to emerge when it snows, according to folk tales, as well as the {{wp|zashiki warashi}}, a spiritual creature found in the folklore of {{wp|Iwate Prefecture}}. It also seems to be a stylized version of a person wearing a yuki mino, a traditional Japanese winter costume worn long ago by many people in the snowy parts of Japan consisting of a conical snow-cloak made of straw.
