Driftveil City
ホドモエシティ Hodomoe City
"A City of Billowing Sails"
Driftveil City in {{{variable2}}}.
Map description
A port town distributing many goods, and a gateway to the Unova region.
Driftveil City (Japanese: ホドモエシティHodomoe City) is a major ocean port city in western Unova. It has strong wind currents popular with sailboaters. More importantly, its ports are used by freighters and fishing boats that import and export goods such as vegetables in and out of Unova. A large market offering some useful items occupies part of the city. Driftveil is typically subject to precipitation year-round. In Black and White, a small beach to the east of the Pokémon Center was available to use Surf from to reach the lighthouse. In Black and White 2 however, both the beach and Lighthouse have been removed.
In Black and White, the houses in Driftveil City all had orange-colored roofs so they looked bright at sunset. However, in Black and White 2, this style has changed, and the city now sports very large emerald-colored towers, which are hotels to house the visitors of Driftveil City for the Pokémon World Tournament. Inside are tables and other furniture all covered in emeralds, which could be a result of Clay's mining operation success in Black and White two years ago; however, this is not confirmed.
The city has two possible entrances on foot: from Route 6 to the west and from the Driftveil Drawbridge to the east, which leads to Unova's central peninsula.
A hiker inside Pinwheel Forest says that trees that are cut down are sent from Driftveil City to the rest of the world.
The market is located on the western side of the city. Herbal medicine and Moomoo Milk can be bought here. After defeating Team Plasma and obtaining the National Pokédex, a former Team Plasma Grunt sells incense for $9600 each. In Black 2 and White 2, the National Pokédex requirement is removed, and they can be bought on the first visit.
Driftveil City has a small beach. If the player Surfs directly off the beach, they can find the lighthouse, which has a Water Stone on its shore. The lighthouse is not present in Black 2 and White 2.
Docks
There is a large shipping dock located directly south of the city. The Cold Storage can be found here.
In the house northBW/southB2W2 of the Driftveil Market, there is a girl who requests to see a certain random TM move every day. When the player presents a Pokémon that knows the move she asked for, she will reward the player with a Heart Scale. The move requested will always be one that can be taught via a TM the player currently owns.
Demographics
Black and White
Driftveil City is a large city with a population of 55.

Trainers
Pokémon Black and White
Motorcyclist Charles
Motorcyclist Charles asks the player to try a new kind of battling. In Pokémon Black, Charles has a Rotation Battle with the player, while in Pokémon White, he has a Triple Battle with the player. In both versions, he uses the same team.
After the player obtains the Quake Badge, Bianca will ask for a battle just before the player advances onto Route 6. She rewards the player with HM02 (Fly) upon defeat.
After trading with Kyle and stopping Team Plasma, Kyle will challenge the player to a battle in which he uses the evolved form of the Minccino that the player traded to him.
Charles can be found again behind the Driftveil Market as he was in Pokémon Black and White. In Pokémon Black 2, he and the player have a Triple Battle, and in Pokémon White 2, they have a Rotation Battle. Charles uses the same team he did on Route 5.
Here Ash met a local biker named Charles whose secret identity was "Mighty Accelguard" and aided him in battling Cryogonal Man and Team Vanillite. In A Call for Brotherly Love!, Chili visited the city in order to battle his brother, Cilan. The group also met Clay during this time who denied Ash a battle twice before finally accepting his challenge in Battling the King of the Mines!.
