The Friend Safari is a facility in Kiloude City where Trainers can catch Pokémon that can not normally be found in their journeys. It is Pokémon X and Y's equivalent of the Safari Zone from previous games.
Overview
Once the player has beaten the Elite Four and traveled to Kiloude City for the first time, they are able to access the Friend Safari in the far north east of the area. When a player has registered someone else's Nintendo 3DS Friend Code in their own system, they are able to enter that other person's specific Friend Safari. Each Friend Code has a type and specific obtainable Pokémon assigned to its Safari that cannot be changed. As such, any player who has a single person's Friend Code registered in their system will have access to that person's specific, unchangeable Safari.
Catching Pokémon
Unlike the previous games' Safari Zones, the Friend Safari allows players to battle the wild Pokémon with their own party, and are allowed to use any type of Poké Balls, rather than being forced to use Safari Balls.
Pokémon
All Pokémon that appear in the Friend Safari are level 30. The Pokémon available in the Friend Safari are not limited to Pokémon exclusive to either X or Y, including Pokémon not normally obtainable in either game. A specific player has up to three Pokémon available for capture in their Friend Safari, the third of which being unattainable through normal means in Pokémon X and Y, with only two showing up until they have beaten the Elite Four themselves. All three Pokémon are of the type designated to that player's Friend Code. If a player is in a registered friend's Safari while they are online, the Pokémon there gain a chance of having their Hidden Ability.
