Torment (Japanese: いちゃもん Falsely Accuse) is a non-damaging Dark-type move introduced in Generation III. It has been TM41 since Generation III.
Effect
Torment prevents the target from using the same move twice in a row, starting from the turn following Torment taking effect. If Torment goes first in a turn, the move used by the opponent in the same turn is affected on the following turn. If Torment occurs after any other moves are made in the same turn, it will be applied at first to the move made in the following turn.
If the target is using a Choice item, only knows one move, or if the target is under an Encore, the target will be forced to use Struggle every second round.
Struggle is not affected by Torment; a Pokémon under Torment can use Struggle many times in a row if that Pokémon ran out of moves to use. Moves such as Rollout will still be fully executed under the effects of Torment.
Generation V
Torment now already works at the same turn and can now be reflected with Magic Coat.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon
In the Mystery Dungeon series, Torment instead seals one of the foe's moves. If a user's move is sealed by Torment, it will remain sealed until the user moves to the next floor.
