Gravity (Japanese: じゅうりょく Gravity) is a non-damaging Psychic-type move introduced in Generation IV.

Effect

Generation IV

Gravity causes the field (or floor in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, Darkness, and Sky) to undergo intense gravity. This effect lasts 5 turns.

Intense gravity prevents Pokémon from reaping Ground-type immunity through flying or levitating and makes those Pokémon vulnerable to Spikes, Toxic Spikes and Arena Trap. Immunities from other types and Abilities still remain, so Steel-type Pokémon and Pokémon with Immunity are not affected by Toxic Spikes, and Poison-type Pokémon that are usually airborne will remove Toxic Spikes when switched in.

Gravity also cancels and prevents moves that cause the user to become airborne, including Bounce, Fly, Splash, Jump Kick, Hi Jump Kick, and Magnet Rise. If a Pokémon is using Fly, Bounce, or is under the effect of Magnet Rise when Gravity comes into effect, the moves are canceled immediately.

Finally, Gravity also decreases the evasion of all Pokémon in battle by two stages.

Generation V

Gravity cancels the effect of Telekinesis and prevents it from being used. Gravity also negates the effects of Air Balloon.

Gravity activates a glitch in Double and Triple Battles that can cause a Pokémon to be stuck in the semi-invulnerable state of Sky Drop until it faints. It is activated when Gravity is used while two Pokémon are in the semi-invulnerable state of Sky Drop. Gravity will bring the user of Sky Drop down, while the target will be stuck in the semi-invulnerable state, unable to move, until the effect of Gravity ends, the user of Sky Drop switches out or is knocked out, or the Pokémon affected by Sky Drop is knocked out.

Description
