Behaviour

I noticed the following in the 'Behaviour' section: Mightyena live in packs led by a dominant Alpha Male and his mate. These wolf-like Pokémon use a number of vocal sounds to communicate with each other over a distance. When a scout sights prey, it alerts the pack with a loud howl. The pack divides into two groups for the hunt, one chasing the prey to a specific point, and the other jumping out in an ambush. Where does this actually come from? It doesn't seem to be in any of the 'dex entries. Perhaps some of this was in an anime episode that I missed, although I somehow doubt it - the 'Alpha Male' stuff strikes me as especially suspect. Is this perhaps fan speculation? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Bikini Miltank 05:51, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Okay, after further investigation, I'm convinced this is fanon, and I'm taking it out. Seems the user who added it here was warned about adding speculative stuff to Pokémon articles, although this Alpha Male stuff actually seems to originate on Wikipedia, as far as I can gather (and is still on there...) Bikini Miltank 06:12, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
It was taken from the basic nature of wild dogs fyi, not just because Wikipedia had it. They just already had it worded if it came straight from them. R.A. Hunter Blade 13:33, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
Hmm, fair enough. It actually caught my attention because wild hyena packs are always female-dominated, and so the mention of an Alpha Male seemed really out of place. Of course, the games don't say anything one way or the other about gender dominance... it probably never even entered their heads. Anyway, my only reason for probing into the origin of the comments was just in case they did actually have some basis in canon that I'd missed. Bikini Miltank 20:28, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
I forgot that we have them as based on hyenas and not wolves, but oh well. As for canon, they travel in packs in the anime, and they normally have one member in front of the pack when confronting something. R.A. Hunter Blade 21:46, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Edit Request

Anime Pokedex entry Ash's Pokedex AG011 'Mightyena, the Bite Pokémon. Mightyena is the evolved form of Poochyena. They move primarily in packs, working together to capture their prey.' Please and thank you. Littlmiget123 15:05, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

Coloration

I think it's coloration have been more inspired by wolves. Here are examples.

Also, the black coloration has a similar pattern to that of maned wolves. Takkupanda (talk) 16:35, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Rocky

I was wondering if we should have a small section about Rocky, Brendan's shiny mightyena in Pokemon-X (the webcomic, not the game.) But I wasn't sure, because it is a more mature comic and this site is frequented by kids. Should we? - unsigned comment from MawileCeyvis (talkcontribs)

Only official stuff gets put on pages. A fan thing might be notable enough for a page, but that's as much as they get. Also, sign your comments with four tildes. Ataro (talk) 22:29, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Nose

The current Sugimori Artwork of Mightyena shows it with black nose for some reason. Previous artwork shows the correct red nose. Maybe the image should be reverted to the earlier version, as the earlier version is more correct? Magnezone (talk) 03:21, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

It's the from the official Pokemon.com, so it's correct.--ForceFire 04:17, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
Isn't the earlier version also an official image anyway? I don't see the need to use an incorrect official image when there's a correct official image, but eh, I figure I should still ask first. Magnezone (talk) 07:55, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
Official Japanese Pokédex has red nose, as does literally Mightyena's every media appearence, so we definitely should change it back. I have no powers in Archives so I can't do it myself.--Den Zen 09:33, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
In a case like this, we should do the same thing as we do for sprites that have been changed by/for TPCi: Use the international image as the main file (black nose) and note the art change with the original artwork (red nose) in the trivia section. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 21:51, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
