Blurb

Ash, Misty, and Brock run into a local shopkeeper who introduces them to one of her friends, a jewelry maker who tells them the legend of the fourth Whirl Island. When they first encounter the jewelry maker they find that he and his Sandslash are very ill. After Ash, Misty, and Brock help them to recover, they learn that the jewelry maker is in love with the shopkeper and wants to propose. As usual Team Rocket isn't far behind and up to no good with a plan to try and steal all of the jewelry in the town.

Plot

Ash and his friends walks around in one of the last cities around in the Whirl Islands. The only thing they seem to notice is that everything is shaped like the Silver Wing, and it's no joke when it's everything: rings, necklaces, to even food. All of a sudden, a vendor comes by them to sell them some pins, claiming that every one of them is pure 100% silver. A woman comes by and takes one, but she breaks it, proving that the guy's a con artist, so the vendor runs off. Ash wonders how that woman would know that the pin was a fake. She reveals that she has a pin as well; when she tries to bend it, it doesn't break (however, the clasp on the back is worn out). She takes them into her shop, introducing herself as Ariene. She says she's supposed to get some more jewelry but it looks like her supplier hadn't come yet. The gang decides to go with her to see what's going on.

They arrive at a house, with Ariene shouting the name, "Jenaro." After he offers no reply, she opens up the door, Ash being a little hesitant about coming in. They look around to see if there are any clues. They find one when Ash trips on something. Ariene goes opens up the windows to let in light and they find a Sandslash lying there. They also find Jenaro, unconscious. Apparently both were victims of heat exhaustion and needed some rest. Jenaro is up nearly right away when he is put into a bed, and the Sandslash is slowly improving, thanks to Brock. Ash asks why the town is so obsessed with the Silver Wing. Jenaro explains that it's because of an old legend. A long time ago, a storm had caught a sailing ship in the area, the crew trying their best to survive. Unfortunately, their ship was destroyed. Suddenly, the storm stopped altogether. Looking up, they saw a mysterious Pokémon, and then a silver wing floated down to them. Since that point, many people have looked up to the Silver Wing as a gift.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket look around the town, also wondering what's going on. James notes that this town seems to make every other thing in the shape of the Silver Wing. The same vendor that came to Ash comes up to them, trying to sell them some pins, using the same approach. The sound of "100% silver" brings the conclusion that swiping everything in this town will make them rich.

That night, everybody spends the night at Jenaro's house. Later that night, Pikachu notices that Jenaro isn't in his bed; Ash wakes up and notices it as well. Jenaro is outside, working on a Silver Wing pin, just about ready to give it some final touches. The gang goes outside to see what Jenaro is doing. He explains that tomorrow is Ariene's birthday, and he really wants to surprise her and propose to her, as he loved her. Making a replacement pin was the only thing he could do. Just one problem: he's a little shy, afraid of what to say when he gives her the gift. Ash and Misty give some encouragement, while Brock tries to ignore this revelation.

The next day at the town, Jenaro gets a tuxedo, flowers, and a small box for his present. He's a little embarrassed, and still afraid of what to say. Misty tries to get him to go to Ariene and get it over with, except something's up. All the jewelry seems to be getting sucked up towards something. Everyone looks up and sees that it's Team Rocket with a giant vacuum. They show off their catch and turn the vacuum on a higher setting. Jenaro tries to run towards them but he trips, the box falling out and being sucked into the vacuum. After that Team Rocket floats away with their loot, with Ash running right after them. Team Rocket floats away faster than Ash can run, so he sends out Noctowl to puncture the balloon. When Team Rocket lands, the gang make it there. It looks like Team Rocket won't go without a fight. Jessie sends out Arbok and James sends out Weezing. Ash uses Pikachu to make short work of the two Pokémon, but Weezing spews a Smokescreen, blinding Pikachu. Arbok attacks with Poison Sting, hitting Pikachu. Then both attack, giving Pikachu no chance to retaliate. Then Ariene and Jenaro get there, Jenaro's Sandslash is going in to use Sandstorm to shield Pikachu from the attacks. Ariene tells Sandslash to use Swift but Jenaro gives her an odd look saying that he was going to tell Sandslash to use that attack. Sandslash does so anyway, knocking them back to the balloon. Pikachu goes up for a Thunder to blast them away.

Afterwards, Jenaro gets back his present, but he is still unsure and afraid. He tries to say something, and Sandslash pokes him; but just as he is about to pop the question, Ariene asks him the same. They argue for a few seconds, but they realize they both love each other. Back at Jenaro's house, Jenaro tells them where they might find this mysterious Pokémon they saw earlier and the gang heads off, saying their goodbyes. They make it to a tunnel and head through, finding themselves on a cliff. They take a breather, enjoying a soft wind that comes by, when they notice a Pikachu in some grass. The Pikachu turns out to be Sparky as the episode ends.
