Harden (Japanese: かたくなる Stiffen) is a non-damaging Normal-type move introduced in Generation I.

Effect

Generation I

Harden increases the user's defense by 1 level.

Harden will do nothing if the user's defense has reached a level of +6 or a value of 999. The effect of Harden is ignored by critical hits.
