The Eon Ticket allows a player to travel to Southern Island after he/she has defeated the Elite Four where he/she will meet either Latias (in Pokémon Ruby) or Latios (in Pokémon Sapphire). This Key Item can't be obtained in the games. It has to be downloaded at a promotional event or using the Eon Ticket e-Card.
In North America, the Eon Ticket can be transferred to the games through Mystery Events using an E-Reader and the Eon Ticket e Card.
In Europe, it was possible to get the Eon Ticket at promotional events. It was also downloaded through Mystery Events, but from special Nintendo cartridges via Link cable.
Also, a player, who received his/her Eon Ticket from either the e Card or a promotional event, is able to share a limited amount of Eon Tickets with other players by mixing records. Eon Tickets received by mixing records can't be shared, though.
