Cosmoem (Japanese: コスモウム Cosmovum) is a Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation VII.

It evolves from Cosmog starting at level 43 and evolves into either Solgaleo or Lunala starting at level 53 depending on the game it evolves in.

• In Pokémon Sun and Ultra Sun, Cosmoem evolves into Solgaleo.
• In Pokémon Moon and Ultra Moon, Cosmoem evolves into Lunala.

Biology

Cosmoem is a Pokémon in the shape of a translucent, dark blue orb with a starscape pattern set in a solid golden shell structure, which is made up of four ellipses intersecting each other in an asterisk shape and another intersecting the former four along the middle. At the center of the main body is a much smaller black core with a blue and a pink marking on the front and an orange semicircle on both sides, giving it the appearance of a sleeping face. The shape also looks like an eye.

It does not, and cannot, move. In Pokémon Refresh, it cannot eat. It grows as it absorbs light. Its body is warm. In ancient times, it was worshiped by the people of Alola.

Nebby, who started out as a Cosmog, evolved into Cosmoem in Faba's Revenge!. Nebby later evolved into Solgaleo in Revealing the Stuff of Legend!.

• Pokémon Sun and Moon: Nebby, the Cosmog that travels with Lillie, eventually evolves into Cosmoem after being forced to open an Ultra Wormhole by Lusamine. At the Altar of the Sunne^SUS/Altar of the Moone^MUM, the player and Lillie play the Sun and Moon Flutes, causing Nebby to evolve into Solgaleo^SUS/Lunala^MUM, where it eventually officially joins the player^SM/is absorbed by Necrozma in order to become its Dusk Mane^US/Dawn Wings^UM form.

Moon There's something accumulating around the black core within its hard shell. People think this Pokémon may come from another world. Ultra Sun The king who ruled Alola in times of antiquity called it the “cocoon of the stars” and built an altar to worship it. Ultra Moon As it absorbs light, Cosmoem continues to grow. Its golden shell is surprisingly solid.

• At 4 inches (0.1 m), Cosmoem is tied with Joltik, Flabébé, Cutiefly, and Comfey as the smallest Pokémon.
• Requiring 43 levels to evolve from Cosmog and just 10 more to evolve into either Solgaleo or Lunala, Cosmeom has the lowest relative second-stage evolution requirement, at around 23%.

Origin

Cosmoem has characteristics of both a stylized sun and a stylized moon, having rays and a pair of crescents, respectively. Given its description, it seems to be an embodiment of star formation in general. It may also be based on the idea of the world egg. When viewed from the front, its shape resembles an eye.

Name origin

Cosmoem may be a combination of cosmo and embryo.

Cosmovum may be a combination of cosmo and ovum (Latin for egg).
