The Guard Spec. (Japanese: エフェクトガード Effect Guard) is a type of battle item introduced in Generation I. It temporarily prevents stat reduction.

Prevents stat reduction by opponents' moves for the user's party for five turns. From Generation III onward, it also increases the Pokémon's friendship a little.
