Mega Energy (Japanese: メガエナジー Mega Energy) is a type of currency introduced in Pokémon GO that is used to temporarily Mega Evolve certain species of Pokémon. Similar to Candy, each type of Mega Energy is specific to one evolutionary line.
In Pokémon GO
Each eligible species has a specific amount of Mega Energies required to Mega Evolve. After a Pokémon has Mega Evolved for the first time, the cost to Mega Evolve it again into the same form is reduced to one-fourth the original cost. This cost reduction is retained even if the Pokémon is later traded.
For each species, a player can hold a maximum of 999 Mega Energies at a time. Any Mega Energies that is given beyond this limit will not be received.

Mega Energy is normally obtained by completing Mega Raids, which will reward Mega Energies specific to the Raid Boss that was defeated. The amount of Mega Energy rewarded ranges from 35 to 55, depending on how quickly the players completed the Mega Raid.
Beedrill Mega Energy can be obtained through a Special Research event.
