Mr. Cheeves is a character of the day who appeared in Two Degress of Separation!, as James's butler. He did not receive a name in the Japanese version.
Cheeves is part of the staff at James's second summer home in Sinnoh. Upon arriving after having a battle with Pikachu, Dawn, and Piplup, and finding his Carnivine, James summoned Cheeves with a food order for himself, Jessie, and Meowth.
Once on the scene, however, Mr. Cheeves innocuously revealed that he had contacted James's parents about his arrival. As a result, they and Jessebelle would be arriving the next day, having expressed their eagerness to reunite with him. Consequently, it ruined Team Rocket's plans of making the summer home their base of operations in Sinnoh.
