Garganacl (Japanese: キョジオーン Kyojiōn) is a Rock-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX.

It evolves from Naclstack starting at level 38. It is the final form of Nacli.

Biology

Garganacl is a large, bipedal Pokémon primarily made up of rock salt and sedimentary rock.

Garganacl's salt is known to have medicinal properties, and will scrape its fingertips together to share its salt with injured Pokémon. The salt is said to be mineral rich, and can heal injured Pokémon quickly. Many Pokémon also gather around Garganacl in hopes to lick up its salt.

Garganacl and its pre-evolved form, Naclstack, are the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Salt Cure.

Trivia

Origin

Garganacl seems to be based on a large bipedal creature composed of rock salt, its arms and legs having the layered pattern of strata. Garganacl's role as a gentle earth-based creature takes cues from Hebrew golems, and its shoulders resemble the edges of a ziggurat. Its glowing eyes may be based on Himalayan salt lamps. Looking at its name, Garganacl could also take inspiration from el Gargantúa, a giant creature from Basque Folklore.

Name origin

Garganacl may be derived from gargantuan and NaCl (chemical formula for sodium chloride; table salt).

Kyojiōn may be derived from 巨人 kyojin (giant), 塩 shio (salt), and geo- (prefix for earth).
