Elvis?
I understand this may be considered an opinion, but just look at it's hairstyle. Shiramu Kuromu 23:50, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
- It's called a Pompadour Ataro 00:10, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- A lot of people have that hairstyle, it could be based on Jedward for all we know, unless it has other characteristics of Elvis and we know for certain, it is best kept off the page. XVuvuzela2010X 14:57, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- Aren't some of these origin sections big steaming piles of speculation in any case? I don't see why Elvis can't at least be mentioned as a possibility. When I saw Yanakkie for the first time, my reaction was, and I quote, "OK, that's definitely going on my team. Elvis monkey FTW!" - unsigned comment from Missingno. - Yeah it really dosen't seem fair that some orgins are put down and others are not. Missingno master is right it's all speculation and half the time the info that is said to be correct dosen't make any since. We didn't make them so we don't know. So what's the harm of putting elvis? --Pokemaster97 18:27, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

More subculture
It has recently come to my attention that like Zuruzukin Yanakkie, Baokkie and Hiyakkie’s appearances are based on American subcultures: Yanakkie= biker, Baokkie = greecer and Hiyakkie= hippie. What do you think, should it be added? - unsigned comment from EpicShadow (talk • contribs)
Oh come on, just because a comment is unsighned doesn't mean you can just ignor it! --EpicShadow 18:01, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
Elemental Monkey
Shouldn't the top of the page be structured as "Simisage (Japanese: ヤナッキー Yanakkie) is a Grass-type Elemental Monkey Pokémon"? Since Metagross, for example, is listed as a "dual-type Steel/Psychic pseudo-legendary Pokémon" and "Pseudo-legendary" is also a fan term. Me, Hurray! (talk) 23:55, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- Your argument is probably more persuasive to remove pseudo-legendary from those pages, not to add more fan terms. Noncanon material is not a good thing to put on canon articles. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 05:36, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
Speak No Evil design motif
I think I've figured out what about Simisage's design is a reference to Speak No Evil: it's giving a thumbs up.
It might seem like a stretch, but I don't think so if you think about it. A thumbs up is obviously a hand gesture, which can act as a substitute for verbal speech. I'm not gonna try and stretch it so far as to say it's referencing sign language, but in essence, that's what a thumbs up is. So I think the thumbs up is the Speak No Evil design motif as you can substitute words such as "good" or "okay," etc. for hand gestures, probably most commonly the thumbs up, at least in the West as I'm not that knowledgeable about Japanese culture.
Additionally, on the note of "good," Pansear holds it's hand up to its ear as though it's trying to listen, which is more fitting with a variation of the Three Wise Monkeys that are "Hear, Speak, and See only good," but if this was evidence, there's not enough to strongly support that theory, so it's more likely just a fun coincidence, additionally since Pansear is not Simisage's prevo.
I'm very timid when it comes to editing, so I wanted to put this here first and gauge opinions first, rather than just assuming I'm right and slapping it in the trivia straight away.
