Magnificent Meditite & Really Riolu I (Japanese: VS アサナン&リオルI VS Meditite & Riolu I), titled VS Meditite & Riolu I in the Chuang Yi translation, is the 356th chapter of the Pokémon Adventures manga, and the 19th chapter of the Diamond & Pearl arc. It is subtitled The Slot Machine and Maylene (Japanese: スロットとスモモ Slots and Sumomo) in the VIZ Media translation and Slots and Maylene in the Chuang Yi translation.
Plot
Three young Trainers watch as Maylene trains with her Pokémon. They exchange rumors about her and come to the conclusion that they will need some type of item to help land an attack on her fast-moving Pokémon.
Unable to pass through Route 210 due to a crowd of Psyduck, Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum take a detour that leads them to Veilstone City. When Pearl gets frustrated about getting farther away from Mt. Coronet, Platinum decides the best thing to do is rest at a hotel. Diamond and Pearl practice their comedy routine as Platinum follows some neon lights shining from a distance that she assumes are coming from a hotel.
Platinum steps into the building, unaware that she has just entered the Veilstone Game Corner. The manager welcomes her inside and teaches her how to use the slot machines. Platinum shows interest, eager to learn more about them. After rehearsing their routine, Diamond and Pearl are shocked to find Platinum playing a slot machine at the Game Corner. When Pearl sees how obsessed she has become with gambling, he scolds her and drags her out.
Later at a hotel, Diamond comes into the room and reveals that he bought a Zoom Lens with the Coins Platinum had won at the slot machines. Pearl suggests that she tests it out with Chimler, who usually struggles to land attacks from a distance. They head out to the balcony and pick a small tree to use as a target.
Platinum commands Chimler to hit the tree, but right as a ball of fire leaves its hand, Maylene can be seen in its path. To the group's relief, Maylene dodges the attack. She jumps up to the balcony to ask if everyone is alright, then is impressed to learn that they were the ones responsible for hitting the tree from such a distance. Upon hearing that they used a device to help land attacks, Maylene suspects that Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum are the Trainers she heard from earlier. Assuming Platinum wishes to challenge her, Maylene tells her that she expects to see her at the Veilstone Gym.

Trivia
Errors
- In the Chuang Yi version, the mirrored map of Sinnoh gives off the impression that Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum left Mt. Coronet from the western exit, when in fact they have been traveling eastward. A few places such as Hearthome City and Solaceon Town erroneously appear to be on the western side of Mt. Coronet.
- In the Chuang Yi version, the Zoom Lens is called its Japanese name, Focus Lens.
