*[[Generation IV]] backsprite is much darker than in [[Generation III]]. Also in [[Generation III]] Seedot's hat is light brown, similar to green, in [[Generation IV]] this changed and it has a colour more darker.
Seedot is a small brown creature that greatly resembles an acorn, so much so that it can easily startle Pokémon looking for food on the forest floor. It can stick onto trees with the top of its cap and it has two feet for moving about.
Seedot enjoy consuming water and nutrients from trees.
In the anime
Seedot first appeared in Seeing is Believing. A trio of these Acorn Pokémon were in a sad mood and Professor Birch used his Pokémon knowledge to cheer them up.
In Pinch Healing, one of the Pokémon that a Poké-Sitter was looking after was a Seedot. May played with it in the Pokémon Center.
Seedot attaches itself to a tree branch using the top of its head. It sucks moisture from the tree while hanging off the branch. The more water it drinks, the glossier this Pokémon's body becomes.
Seedot looks exactly like an acorn when it is dangling from a tree branch. It startles other Pokémon by suddenly moving. This Pokémon polishes its body once a day using leaves.
Seedot's name may be a combination of seed and dot, or perhaps tot, referring to its small size. Its Japanese name is based on 種 tane, seed, and 赤ん坊 akanbō, baby, or 帽子 bōshi, hat.
