TCG Era

The Japanese Scarlet & Violet Era of the Pokémon Trading Card Game officially began with the release of the dual Scarlet ex and Violet ex expansion on January 20, 2023, which featured new Pokémon and characters from the ninth generation titles Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Many new cards became available in subsequent expansions, subsets, boxed products, and promotions, accompanied by a wide array of other TCG-related merchandise. Below is a chronological list of all the items released during the Japanese Scarlet & Violet Era of the Trading Card Game.

The Scarlet ex and Violet ex expansions were accompanied by a trio of 60-card decks that focused on the evolutionary lines of the Paldea first partner Pokémon and Pokémon supporting the returning Pokémon ex mechanic:

Each deck supported two primary Pokémon types and included multiples of updated Trainer and Energy cards. Decks were packaged with a sheet of damage counters and Special Condition markers, a coin, a playmat, an instruction manual, and a play guide. Each deck variation also included a Promo Card Pack, which contained one of four possible SV-P Promotional cards. A total of eight promotional cards could be obtained from these packs—two were specific to a deck, while the other two could be found in all three. The same eight cards could also be found in Promo Card Packs given away in a concurrent purchase campaign.

Premium Trainer Box ex

The Premium Trainer Box ex (Japanese: プレミアムトレーナーボックス　ソード＆シールド) was also released alongside the dual Scarlet ex and Violet ex expansion on January 20, 2023. It contained a selection of Pokémon, Trainer, and Energy cards from both the Sword & Shield Era and the Scarlet & Violet Era, plus 10 Scarlet ex and 10 Violet ex booster packs to experiment with the latest cards. Each box also came with acrylic damage counters, acrylic status markers, a coin, and a damage counter case.

Scarlet ex & Violet ex Special Set

Participating convenience stores across Japan began to sell the Scarlet ex & Violet ex Special Set (Japanese: スカーレットex＆バイオレットex スペシャルセット) from January 20, 2023. Each special set included five Scarlet ex booster packs, five Violet ex booster packs, and one Let's Start Playing Pokémon Card Game Campaign Promo Card Pack.

Energy Card Set

The Energy Card Set (Japanese: エネルギーカードセット) provided an additional Energy card resource for players and was made available alongside many other products on January 20, 2023. Each set included 13 copies of the eight basic Energy cards used as of the Scarlet & Violet Era, plus three SV-P Promotional cards, a cardboard sheet of damage counters and Special Condition markers, and a coin.

A new wave of TCG accessories was made available to supplement the first card products of the Scarlet & Violet Era on January 20, 2023.

Carrying case: The Koraidon & Miraidon Carrying Case (Japanese: キャリングケースコライドン・ミライドン) was a plastic case with eight fixed partitions that could be used to store cards or a variety of smaller TCG items. Cases also included eleven separator plates and a sheet of stickers that could be used for labeling. Each case features a gray and teal Pokémon ex color scheme with outlines of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet mascots Koraidon and Miraidon.

Card box: The Koraidon & Miraidon Long Card Box (Japanese: ロングカードボックスコライドン・ミライドン) could hold up to 750 unsleeved cards once assembled. The box was also wide enough to store up to three standard-sized deck cases in addition to a loose 60-card deck. It features the Legendary Paradox Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon.

Deck cases: Each deck case can store up to 180 loose cards and can be secured shut with hook-and-loop fasteners. Deck cases were also packaged with two card dividers.

Playmat: The Koraidon & Miraidon Rubber Playmat (Japanese: ラバープレイマットコライドン・ミライドン) provided a suitable game surface for a single player and featured the Generation IX Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon plus labeled card areas. The playmat was exclusive to Pokémon Centers and the Pokémon Center Online—sales for the latter were conducted by lottery and could be applied for between December 21 and 25, 2022.

Sleeves: Each pack contains 64 card protector sleeves.

The Koraidon Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールドコライドン Deck Shield: Koraidon) feature a scarlet-colored border and portray the Paradox Pokémon Koraidon priming an attack.
The Miraidon Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールドミライドン Deck Shield: Miraidon) feature a violet-colored border and depict lightning emanating from the Paradox Pokémon Miraidon.
The Sprigatito & Fuecoco & Quaxly Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールドニャオハ＆ホゲータ＆クワッス Deck Shield: Nyahoja & Hogator & Kuwassu) feature the trio of Paldea first partner Pokémon Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly together with their appropriate Energy symbols. These sleeves were illustrated by Lee HyunJung^[1] and were exclusive to Pokémon Centers and the Pokémon Center Online.
The Lechonk Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールドグルトン Deck Shield: Gourton) feature the Hog Pokémon Lechonk relaxing in a wood. These sleeves were exclusive to official Pokémon outlets and were illustrated by Mari Inoue.
The Gardevoir Evolutionary Traces Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールド進化の軌跡サーナイト Deck Shield: Evolutionary Traces: Sirnight) feature a vivid illustration by kantaro of the Embrace Pokémon Gardevoir and its prior evolutions Kirlia and Ralts. These sleeves could only be purchased at Pokémon Centers and from the Pokémon Center Online.
The Magnezone Evolutionary Traces Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールド進化の軌跡ジバコイル Deck Shield: Evolutionary Traces: Jibacoil) feature the evolutionary line of Magnezone drifting around an abandoned power station. These sleeves have artwork by Oswaldo KATO and were exclusive to official Pokémon outlets.

File: Each 4-ring Koraidon & Miraidon Collection File (Japanese: コレクションファイルコライドン・ミライドン) came with ten 9-pocket sheets and could accommodate up to 20 sheets, allowing up to 360 cards to be displayed. Files featured Koraidon on the front and Miraidon on the reverse; both sides also featured the updated Pokémon ex logo for the Scarlet & Violet Era. Packs of ten Koraidon & Miraidon Collection Refill (Japanese: コレクションリフィルコライドン・ミライドン) sheets were sold separately, which also came with a divider featuring the same Koraidon and Miraidon images.

Display frames: Two new display frames were released with designs based on the line's debut in the Sword & Shield Era. Each frame comprises two transparent acrylic panels—one bearing a border design, the other with a recess to place a TCG card—a set of four screws to secure them together, and two feet that enable the frame to stand.

The Black Display Frame Version 2 (Japanese: ディスプレイフレームブラックVer.2) includes a decorative panel with a plain black design and TCG Energy symbols.
The Poké Ball Display Frame Version 2 (Japanese: ディスプレイフレームモンスターボールVer.2 Display Frame: Monster Ball Ver. 2) includes a panel with a regular Poké Ball design. This frame could only be obtained from Pokémon Centers and the Pokémon Center Online.

Card pochibukuro: A new product line of was introduced with this wave of accessories in the form of pochibukuro, sealable paper envelopes designed to hold a single sleeved card with the intention of gifting them to someone. In Japan, these envelopes traditionally contain small sums of money and are typically given away at celebratory events or to children at New Year. Each envelope features an illustration on the front and a space to write a recipient's name on the reverse. Packs contained five envelopes and five transparent sleeves. All five designs available at this time were exclusive to Pokémon Centers and the Pokémon Center Online.

The Gengar, Gardevoir & Mimikyu Card Pochibukuro (Japanese: カードポチ袋ゲンガー・サーナイト・ミミッキュ Card Pochibukuro: Gangar•Sirnight•Mimikkyu) feature Mimikyu, Gardevoir, Gengar, and Dedenne with their own uniquely packaged gifts.
The Sprigatito, Fuecoco & Quaxly Card Pochibukuro (Japanese: カードポチ袋ニャオハ・ホゲータ・クワッス Card Pochibukuro: Nyahoja•Hogator•Kuwassu) feature Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly among a multitude of presents and Pokémon-themed toys.

Miscellaneous items:

The Koraidon & Miraidon Damage Counter Case (Japanese: ダメカンケースコライドン・ミライドン) was designed to store smaller TCG accessories, such as damage counters, coins, dice, or Special Condition markers. Each case features outlines of Koraidon and Miraidon together with a Pokémon ex graphic.
A pack of Pikachu Coin Dice (Japanese: コインサイコロピカチュウ) was once again available, following two iterations in the Sword & Shield Era. The Pikachu and Poké Ball dice were transparent like the previous version 2 products, but the Pikachu die features the same designs as the initial release.
Packs of Acrylic Damage Counters Version 2 (Japanese: アクリルダメカン ver2) were also available, which included 34 damage counters displaying different damage values: twenty yellow 10-damage counters, eight orange 50-damage counters, and six red 100-damage counters. These were functionally the same as damage counters available in the version 1 products, as well as those available in Premium Trainer Boxes.

Let's Start Playing Pokémon Card Game Campaign

Participating stores across Japan began the Let's Start Playing Pokémon Card Game Campaign (Japanese: ポケモンカードゲームはじめようキャンペーン) in tandem with the launch of Scarlet ex and Violet ex on January 20, 2023. Customers would receive a Promo Card Pack for every 10 Scarlet ex booster packs or every 10 Violet ex booster packs in a transaction for as long as stocks lasted (the Premium Trainer Box ex was specifically excluded).^[2] Each Promo Card Pack contained one of eight possible SV-P Promotional cards; the same cards could also be obtained across Promo Card Packs available in the ex Starter Sets. Two pack designs saw distribution: one all turquoise in color, the other mostly turquoise with white seals.

Pokémon Card Gym Promo Card Pack 1

Similar to many Pokémon League locations in regions overseen by The Pokémon Company International, Pokémon Card Gyms are registered stores in Japan that host casual TCG events on a regular basis. Official paraphernalia was sent to these stores by The Pokémon Company, which often comprised advertisements, gameplay materials, and Promo Card Packs. These packs could be distributed amongst participants in whichever way Pokémon Card Gym organizers saw fit, though generally one pack was given to everyone competing in a Gym Battle event or a New Set Battle event. Additional packs were typically given to the top finishers in these events: three for those placing first, two for those placing second, and one for those placing third. Three packs were also given to winners of periodic rock paper scissors competitions.

The first Pokémon Card Gym Promo Card Packs of the Scarlet & Violet Era were distributed at events held in conjunction with the release of the Scarlet ex and Violet ex expansions on January 20, 2023.^[3] Packs were enclosed with one random card from a pool of seven SV-P Promotional cards, each of which feature the Pokémon Card Gym logo.

Endorsed Independent Event Trainer's Pack 2023

In 2015, The Pokémon Company launched the Pokémon Card Game Endorsed Independent Event program, which allowed third parties to hold non-sponsored TCG events in effort to provide more local bases for beginners.^[4] Much like Organizers in the Professor Program outside Asia, those wishing to host such events were required to pass a Pokémon Card Game Endorsed Qualification Exam and qualify as an Event Organizer. As with several previous Eras, the Pokémon Company provided special Endorsed Independent Event Trainer's Packs to established Endorsed Independent Event sites ready for the start of the Scarlet & Violet Era. With the release of Scarlet ex and Violet ex, these packs could be distributed by Event Organizers to participants of their events in any way they saw fit. Each pack was enclosed with one random card from a pool of nine SV-P Promotional cards, all of which featured an Event Organizer logo.

Deck As Is Battle ~Get Eevee~

Pokémon Card Gym stores able to do so also began to host Deck As Is Battle ~Get Eevee~ (Japanese: デッキそのままバトル～イーブイゲットだぜ～) events from January 20, 2023. These events required participants to use one of the ex Starter Sets in games without any modification (although participants were permitted to integrate cards from enclosed Promo Card Packs). Decks could be purchased at the host store or could be brought in. While stocks lasted, everyone taking part in an event was given a promotional print of Eevee bearing the Pokémon Card Gym logo. Winners of rock paper scissors competitions held during these events were also given a Paper Deck Case (Japanese: 紙製デッキケース) featuring Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. More products became eligible as these events continued to be held throughout the Era, including the ex Starter Set Pikachu ex & Pawmot from March 24, 2023 and the ex Start Decks from July 7, 2023. The Tera ex Start Decks, sold individually from November 24, 2023, also became eligible upon release.^[5]

With the start of a new Regulation block in 2024 and the release of the Pokémon Card Game Battle Academy from March 8, the original events were superseded by the Deck As Is Battle ~Get Eevee~: Battle Academy Limited Battle (Japanese: デッキそのままバトル～イーブイゲットだぜ～　バトルアカデミー限定戦). These events similarly required participants to use one of the Battle Academy decks in games without any modification. While stocks lasted, the same promotional Eevee card was given to everyone taking part and the same Paper Deck Case could be obtained by winning rock paper scissors competitions.^[6] The only new prize on offer was a Battle Notebook (Japanese: バトルノート), which was given to children of elementary school age or younger that took part in a game. The notebook features the Battle Academy box artwork and has space to record the details of 70 games.^[7]

Pokémon Card Game Classroom

Pokémon Card Game Classroom (Japanese: ポケモンカードゲーム教室) events were tailored for children of elementary school age and below and served as an introduction to the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The first events of the Scarlet & Violet Era were held in conjunction with the launch of the dual Scarlet ex and Violet ex expansion on January 20, 2023 and took place at participating Pokémon Centers across Japan. Classes were held several times per week and could be one of two formats: an "individual format", a one-on-one experience with a staff member, or "school format", an experience with multiple customers and staff members. Participants were required to be a member of the Pokémon Card Game Players Club and at least one parent or guardian was to accompany them; proof of age could also be requested prior to attending. From January 20, 2023, every child that participated in a class was given a promotional print of Eevee bearing the Pokémon Card Game Classroom logo and a beginner playmat while stocks lasted. Playmats featured a standard 2-player layout with annotations on the front and deck building tips on the reverse.

Starting April 2024, the participation prize was changed to a Pokémon Card Game Classroom Student ID (Japanese: ポケモンカードゲーム教室　学生証). Roughly the same size as a Pokémon trading card, the front features the Paldea first partner Pokémon and foil detailing, while the reverse features three spaces to affix mini stickers. Nine mini stickers were available in total, each of which resembled a card from the Triplet Beat subset. Participants were given one Basic Pokémon mini sticker with their Student ID: either Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly. Stickers depicting Evolution cards could be earned by taking part in other scheduled events, including Pokémon Center Casual Battles with Pokémon Cards!, City Leagues in either the Junior League or Senior League age bracket, and Sealed Battles. Children would receive the corresponding Floragato, Crocalor, or Quaxwell Stage 1 Pokémon sticker by attending an eligible event after receiving their Student ID, followed by the corresponding Meowscarada ex, Skeledirge ex, or Quaquaval ex Stage 2 Pokémon ex sticker by attending a subsequent eligible event. Staff would affix any mini stickers earned. Stock permitting, Student IDs were distributed until March 31, 2025 and mini stickers were distributed until May 31, 2025.^[8]

Takara Tomy A.R.T.S. continued the release of their TCG-related gummy product line in the Scarlet & Violet Era with Pokémon Card Game Scarlet & Violet Gummy: Scarlet ex & Violet ex (Japanese: ポケモンカードゲームスカーレット＆バイオレットグミスカーレットex＆バイオレットex). Each pack included two grape-flavored gummy candies molded in the shape of Poké Balls and one of 22 possible cards sourced from the Scarlet ex and Violet ex expansions. Packs became available to purchase from January 2023.^[9]

Champions League 2023 merchandise

Champions League tournaments are the Japanese equivalent of Regional Championships and are typically held four or five times during a season. The 2022-2023 season began in the latter part of the Sword & Shield Era; the first Champions League meeting of the Scarlet & Violet Era was therefore the third of the overall season. It was hosted at the Aichi International Exhibition Center, Tokoname over two days on February 25 and 26, 2023.^[10] People wishing to take part in the Aichi event were required to register their interest between January 27 and February 3, 2023 and places were allocated by lottery on February 10.^[11] The next event was the 2023 Miyagi Champions League, which was held at the Miyagi Industrial Exchange Center (also known as Dream Messe Miyagi), Sendai on April 1 and 2, 2023.^[12] People wishing to participate in the Miyagi event were required to register their interest between March 3 and 10, 2023 and places were allocated by lottery on March 17.^[13] The final Champions League event of the season was the 2023 Niigata Champions League, which was held at Toki Messe, Niigata on May 6 and 7, 2023.^[14] People wishing to participate in the Niigata event were required to register their interest between April 7 and 14, 2023 and places were allocated by lottery on April 21.^[15] COVID-19 protocols limited attendance at each venue to players, staff, and the parents/guardians of younger players.

Every competitor at each event was given a pair of promotional cards for entering: a Holofoil Charcadet and one of eight Basic Energy cards selected at random. All of these cards feature a Championship Series 2023 stamp. A promotional Hisuian Typhlosion V card was also given to players that won a predefined number of matches in a tournament. For those competing in the Junior League, this target was four wins, whereas those competing in the Senior and Master Leagues required five wins.^[16]^[17] The Aichi meeting also hosted an Open League, which had no age restriction and was played using the Extra Regulation format. The target for the Open League was also five wins.^[18]

The only side event in operation at each venue was the 4-League Battle, which were 4-player round robin mini tournaments. These were open to Master League competitors only on a tournament's first day, while those held on the second day were open to other League competitors, as well as Master League competitors who had advanced from the qualifying round. All participants were given one random Energy participant promo.^[19]^[20]^[21]

The Master League tournaments at each venue were live-streamed on video platforms NicoNico and YouTube, during which prizes could be won through Twitter campaigns. People wishing to enter a competition were required to follow the Twitter accounts of the official Pokémon Card Channel and its presenters Raichu Umekawa, Nanapple, Kucheat Takeuchi, and Yopifoot, and Tweet messages of support. Those doing so during the broadcast of the Aichi Master League tournament with the hashtag #ポケカCL2023愛知, Pokéca CL2023 Aichi were entered into a prize lottery, as were those who Tweeted with the hashtag #ポケカCL2023宮城, Pokéca CL2023 Miyagi during the broadcast of the Miyagi Master League tournament. Two lotteries were held in conjunction with the broadcast of the Niigata Master League tournament—people were required to Tweet with the hashtag #ポケカCL2023新潟予選, Pokéca CL2023 Niigata Qualifying Round on the first day and Tweet with the hashtag #ポケカCL2023新潟本戦, Pokéca CL2023 Niigata Main Battle on the second. Twenty winners were selected from each draw, each of which received a copy of the Charcadet participant promo and one random Energy participant promo.^[22]^[23]^[24]

The top 64 players in all leagues were given a promotional print of Energy Loto. The top 32 players in all leagues were also given a set of card sleeves (Japanese: オリジナルデッキシールド Original Deck Shield) featuring a stylized Champions League emblem.^[25] New Victory Symbol trophy cards were awarded to the top finishers in each league category at each venue; gold variants were given to those finishing first, silver ones were given to the runners-up, and bronze variants were given to the losing semi-finalists.

Copies of Pokémon Fan issue 82 included several TCG-related promotional items, including a Card Storage Box (Japanese: カードストレージボックス) that could hold up to 600 cards once assembled. Each box featured images of Pokémon ex cards from the Scarlet ex and Violet ex expansions set against appropriately-colored backgrounds. Other items included a Pokémon Card Game Battle Debut Book (Japanese: ポケカバトルデビューブック Pokéca Battle Debut Book), which provided insights for beginners, and a Koraidon ex & Miraidon ex Changing Keychain (Japanese: コライドンｅｘ・ミライドンｅｘチェンジングキーホルダー Koraidon ex•Miraidon ex Changing Key Holder), which featured a lenticular image comprising images of Koraidon ex, Miraidon ex, and the Japanese Scarlet & Violet TCG logo.^[26] The magazine was available for sale starting February 28, 2023.^[27]

The Paldean Wooper Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールドウパー（パルデアのすがた） Deck Shield: Upah (Paldea Form)) feature a group of Paldean Wooper playing in a puddle of mud. The illustration on these sleeves was drawn by Yuri Yokomizo.

A fourth ex Starter Set was released on March 24, 2023 to accompany the three available earlier in the year. Each ex Starter Set Pikachu ex & Pawmot (Japanese: スターターセットex ピカチュウex&パーモット Starter Set ex Pikachu ex & Parmot) was packaged with a 60-card deck that focused mostly on Lightning-type Pokémon, including the Mouse Pokémon Pikachu and the Hands-On Pokémon Pawmot, the former supporting the Pokémon ex mechanic. Sets also included a sheet of damage counters and Special Condition markers, a gold-colored coin, a playmat, an instruction manual, a play guide, and another product-specific Promo Card Pack that contained one of four possible SV-P Promotional cards.

The Pikachu Plush Deck Case (Japanese: ぬいぐるみデッキケースピカチュウ) was a flip deck case lined with polyester fiber that incorporated Pikachu's facial and back features. Each case can hold up to 90 sleeved cards and can be secured shut with hook-and-loop fasteners. The same deck case was included in the ex Starter Set Pikachu Special Set.
Packs of 64 Pikachu & Pawmi Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールドピカチュウ＆パモ Deck Shield: Pikachu & Pamo) feature a harukoneko illustration^[29] depicting the Mouse Pokémon Pikachu and Pawmi. These sleeves were exclusive to Pokémon Centers and the Pokémon Center Online.

Snow Hazard & Clay Burst Pokémon Center & Gym Set

The Snow Hazard and Clay Burst subsets were released on April 14, 2023 and collectively made up the second expansion of the Scarlet & Violet Era. Their launch was accompanied by the Snow Hazard & Clay Burst Pokémon Center & Gym Set (Japanese: 拡張パックスノーハザード＆クレイバーストポケモンセンター・ジムセット Expansion Pack: Snow Hazrd & Clay Burst Pokémon Center•Gym Set), which was sold at Pokémon Centers, participating Pokémon Card Gym locations, and the Pokémon Center Online. Each set included one Snow Hazard booster box, one Clay Burst booster box, and accessories featuring Levincia Gym Leader Iono and her Bellibolt: an Iono Deck Case (Japanese: デッキシールドナンジャモ Deck Case: Nanjyamo) and corresponding set of 64 Iono Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールドナンジャモ Deck Shield: Nanjyamo). Set boxes could also be used to store a large quantity of cards and were packaged with four partition plates.

In anticipation of the popularity of this product, lotteries were held for Pokémon Center Online orders. The pre-order period was open from March 17 to 19, 2023 and two delivery dates were allocated. Winners of the lottery for date A were notified after April 5, 2023 and their orders were shipped sequentially after April 14. Winners of the lottery for date B were notified after April 19, 2023 and their orders were shipped sequentially after April 28. Those who were unsuccessful in any draw were notified in the same period as the winning pre-orders.^[30]

Pikachu Chinese Restaurant merchandise: The Pikachu Chinese Restaurant promotional campaign began on April 29, 2023 with the introduction of Chinese-style Set Menu meals at Pokémon Café locations in Tokyo and Osaka. Meals were accompanied with items of tableware featuring Chinese-inspired illustrations by Gibumi, many of which could be purchased through official Pokémon outlets from May 3, 2023. These items were accompanied with others such as drawstring bags, pouches, stickers, and shirts resembling restaurant attire. Two red leatherette TCG flip cases were added to the line from May 19, which feature debossed Chinese-inspired patterns and images of Pikachu, Rayquaza, Raikou, Mienfoo, Pancham, and Magikarp.

Midnight Agent -the cinema- merchandise: Previously launched as a Pokémon Center merchandise line in February 2023, these items feature Inteleon, Greninja, Gengar, and Sylveon as central characters in an in-universe spy film named Midnight Agent. Illustrations were created for four film "scenes": Attract Trap, which depicts Sylveon using Attract against a Goodra, a Sliggoo, a Turtonator, and a Hakamo-o; Infiltration, which depicts Gengar sneaking past a patrolling Flygon; Reconnaissance, which portrays Greninja evading the attacks of a Torkoal, a Gigalith, and a Sandaconda; and Final Battle, which depicts Inteleon about to attack a Duraludon with Snipe Shot. Inteleon is also depicted holding a scroll, which is presumably the character's objective. Many items in the line utilized the artwork of these "scenes", comprising keychains, pins, apparel, clear files, notebooks, stickers, and diorama figures. Several items also took inspiration from the film's genre, including a ballpoint pen with a light, a water-soluble memo set, a set of wristwatches with hidden Pokédex numbers, a magic mug, and a gummy tin with one sixth of its contents containing sour sweets. The "scene" illustrations were also used on the range of TCG accessories added to the line from May 19:

The Toedscruel Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールドリククラゲ Deck Shield: Rikukurage) feature the Woodear Pokémon Toedscruel and Toedscool. The Toedscool purposely dashes forth while the Toedscruel remains in the background, amused.
The Houndstone Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールドハカドッグ Deck Shield: Hakadog) feature the Ghost Dog Pokémon Houndstone in front of a full moon. Numerous Greavard and their candle-like protrusions dot the surrounding land. These sleeves were illustrated by kirisAki.^[34]

Yu Nagaba × Pokémon Card Game Eeveelutions merchandise

In response to the success of the first collaboration between artist Yu Nagaba and the TCG, a second merchandise campaign began on May 20, 2023 that saw the distribution of nine Mirror Holofoil promotional cards depicting Eevee and its evolutions illustrated in Yu Nagaba's minimalist style. The first phase of the campaign saw the release of clothing and other items through the retailer BEAMS:

The Osuwari Design T-shirt features a reverse design of the Eeveelutions sitting. Patches featuring the same individual illustrations could be affixed to the front. Shirts were available in black or white and in both adult and children's sizes.
The Battle Design T-shirt features a reverse design of the Eeveelutions in more dynamic poses and match the illustrations of the TCG cards. Nine different patches were also included; shirts were available in black or white and in both adult and children's sizes.
The Osuwari Design Eevee T-shirt (Japanese: Osuwari Design イーブイ T-shirt Osuwari Design Eievui T-shirt), features Eevee sitting front and center. Shirts were available in black or white and in both adult and children's sizes.
The CARD Design T-shirt features Energy symbols on the front and the reverse of a trading card on the back. These shirts were available in black or white in adult sizes only.
The CARD Design BANDANA similarly features a pattern consisting of Energy symbols and trading card reverse illustrations. The bandana was only available in black.
The Osuwari CAP and pairs of Osuwari SOCKS feature Eevee sitting. Both were available in black or white.
Osuwari PINS were available from gacha machines. Each capsule contained one pin depicting one of the Eeveelutions in a sitting position.
Three bag designs in collaboration with manufacturer GREGORY were also released—a DAY PACK, a smaller SUNNY DAY backpack, and a TAILMATE waist bag. All featured interchangeable patches feauring the GREGORY logo, the Yu Nagaba × Pokémon Card Game campaign logo, or Eevee sitting.

Black variations of each T-shirt design were limited to BEAMS T Harajuku, BEAMS Shinjuku, BEAMS Sendai, BEAMS Street Umeda, and BEAMS Kyoto stores, as well as the BEAMS and ZOZOTOWN online stores. The pins were limited to the same physical sores and were not available online. Sales for each item were limited to one per color and size per person. Two campaign Promo Card Packs were given away for each purchase, though the pins were specifically excluded. Each Promo Card Pack contained one random card from the pool of nine Eeveelution cards.^[35]

The second phase of the campaign began on May 24, 2023. Promo Card Packs were given away for every ¥1,000 in a purchase of TCG-related products at Pokémon Centers, participating Pokémon Stores, and on the Pokémon Center Online. A maximum of ten cards could be given away per person at physical stores and a maximum of ten cards could be allocated per transaction on the Pokémon Center Online.^[36] This phase also saw the release of three TCG accessories, all of which featured Yu Nagaba's black and white line drawings:

A Yu Nagaba × Pokémon Card Game Eeveelutions Special Box (Japanese: YU NAGABA × ポケモンカードゲームイーブイズスペシャルBOX), which came packaged with a set of 64 card sleeves, a deck case with two partition plates, and a rubber playmat. The box could be used for storage and featured a transparent sleeve with colored Eeveelutions and Energy symbols.
A Yu Nagaba × Pokémon Card Game Eeveelutions Collection File (Japanese: YU NAGABA × ポケモンカードゲームイーブイズコレクションファイル), which included ten 9-pocket card display pages.
A Yu Nagaba × Pokémon Card Game Eeveelutions Display Frame (Japanese: YU NAGABA × ポケモンカードゲームイーブイズディスプレイフレーム), which comprised two acrylic panels, a set of four screws, and two foot stands.

The items could only be purchased through the Pokémon Center Online. Pre-orders were accepted between April 21 and 23, 2023 and a lottery was held to determine purchase slots. Results were announced from May 15, 2023 with deliveries to successful orders beginning May 24, 2023. Customers would also receive four campaign Promo Card Packs with an order of the Special Box or one Promo Card Pack with an order of the Collection File or Display Frame.^[37]^[38]^[39]

Similar to the first collaboration in the Sword & Shield Era, two sets of silk screen prints could also be ordered from Yu Nagaba's website. Eevee Evolutions No.1 (Japanese: イーブイズ No.1) comprised nine prints measuring 63×88mm of the Eeveelutions in a sitting position; Eevee Evolutions No.2 (Japanese: イーブイズ No.2) similarly comprised nine prints of the Eeveelutions in battle positions. Each set was priced at ¥120,000 plus tax and was subject to a shipping fee of ¥2,000. Both sets were limited to 50 copies, signed by Yu Nagaba, numbered, and presented in frames measuring 400×475mm. People could apply to purchase either set between May 24 and 27, 2023 and were entered into a lottery; winners were intended to be notified in early June 2023.^[40]^[41]

The second Enhanced Expansion Pack of the Scarlet & Violet Era was Pokémon Card 151 and was officially released on June 16, 2023. Among the subset's associated merchandise were two card file sets, one of which was the Venusaur, Charizard & Blastoise Pokémon Card 151 Card File Set (Japanese: ポケモンカード151 カードファイルセットフシギバナ・リザードン・カメックス Pokémon Card 151: Card File Set: Fushigibana•Lizardon•Kamex). Each set included a card file featuring corporate art of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise, a poster featuring images of the first 151 cards from the subset, three Mirror Holofoil promotional cards, and five Pokémon Card 151 booster packs. In anticipation of the product's popularirty, a lottery was conducted to determine purchase slots for orders made through the Pokémon Center Online. Pre-orders were accepted between April 27 and May 8, 2023. Results were announced from June 7, 2023 with deliveries to successful orders beginning June 16.^[42]

This product includes the same style card file as its counterpart, featuring a Poké Ball design with silhouettes of Generation I Pokémon, plus the same poster, the same three promotional cards, plus five Pokémon Card 151 booster packs. This set was similarly subject to a lottery through the Pokémon Center Online. Pre-orders were accepted between April 27 and May 8, 2023. Results were announced from June 7, 2023 with deliveries to successful orders beginning June 16.^[43]

The release of Pokémon Card 151 on June 16, 2023 also saw numerous TCG accessories become available to purchase, many of which featured characters and Pokémon that debuted in the first generation games.

Pokémon Card 151 merchandise: The items in this line utilize the same artwork present on Pokémon Card 151 booster packs, which prominently feature the Mythical Pokémon Mew and a Poké Ball against a background of multi-colored Generation I Pokémon silhouettes.

Each Mew Deck Case (Japanese: デッキケースミュウ) could store up to 180 cards and was packaged with a pair of organizational dividers.
Each Mew Full-Size Rubber Playmat (Japanese: ラバープレイマットフルサイズミュウ) provided an adequate playing surface for two players to conduct games. Playmats were only sold from Pokémon Centers and the Pokémon Center Online.

The 4-ring 151 Premium Collection File (Japanese: コレクションファイルプレミアム 151) was packaged with ten 9-pocket display pages and an index sheet featuring silhouettes of the first 151 Pokémon. Nine of the display pages featured embossed Pokédex numbers, providing a correlation with the subset's card order. Packs of Mew Collection Refill (Japanese: コレクションリフィルミュウ) pages were also available, which included ten plain 9-pocket display pages and an index sheet featuring the same design as the file's front cover. Both products were exclusive to Pokémon Centers and the Pokémon Center Online.

Erika's Holiday merchandise: These items depict Gym Leader Erika and her Tangela in a house of traditional Japanese design. A Growlithe sleeps inside, while a Vileplume, Venonat, and Butterfree lurk in the surrounding garden. The presence of Growlithe is a possible reference to the Trainer card Erika's Kindness. Zounose drew the illustrations used on these items,^[44] which were exclusive to Pokémon Centers and the Pokémon Center Online.

Display frame: A new style of display frame was released in time with the subset—the Venusaur, Charizard & Blastoise Evolutionary Traces Triple Display Frame (Japanese: ３連ディスプレイフレーム進化の軌跡フシギバナ・リザードン・カメックス Triple Display Frame: Evolutionary Traces: Fushigibana•Lizardon•Kamex). Each frame was packaged with two acrylic panels, three transparent card sleeves, four sets of screws, and two foot stands. The rear panel incoporates three recesses to place cards, while the front panel features an ornate black and gold design that depicts the Kanto first partner Pokémon and their evolutions.

Pokémon Japan Championships 2023 merchandise

The final competitive event of the Japanese 2022-2023 domestic season was the 2023 Pokémon Japan Championships. The event was held at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba on June 10 and 11, 2023, which hosted tournaments for the video games, the Trading Card Game, Pokémon GO, and—for the first time—Pokémon UNITE.^[47] For those playing the TCG, top finishers from 2023 Champions League tournaments were given preferential entry, as were players who had accumulated a sufficient number of Championship Points (CSP) up to May 19, 2023. Others wishing to participate were required to apply through the Pokémon Card Game Players Club between May 12 and 19. Places were selected through lottery draws by May 26.^[48]

All TCG tournament entrants qualified for a promotional Charcadet card and a random promotional Basic Energy card. Junior League players who achieved at least four wins during the event were also given a promotional Hisuian Typhlosion V card, as were Senior League and Master League players who achieved at least five wins.^[49] The Master League tournament was also live-streamed on video platforms Niconico and YouTube, during which people could participate in Twitter competitions. Those wishing to partake were required to follow the Twitter accounts of the official Pokémon Card Channel and its presenters Raichu Umekawa, Nanapple, Kucheat Takeuchi, and Yopifoot, and tweet messages of support. Those doing so during the broadcast on the first day of the Championships with the hashtag #ポケカPJCS2023予選, Pokéca PJCS2023 Qualifying Round were entered into a prize lottery, as were those who Tweeted with the hashtag #ポケカPJCS2023本戦, Pokéca PJCS2023 Main Battle during the second day's broadcast. Twenty winners were selected from each draw, each of which received a copy of the Charcadet participant promo and one random Energy participant promo.^[50]

Entrants and the parents/guardians of younger players could also participate in the PJCS2023 4-League Battle side event held on the second day of the Championships. These more casual events were 4-player round robin mini tournaments and were open to players of the video games, the TCG, and Pokémon GO. All participants of these events were given a PJCS2023 sticker.^[51]

The top 64 tournament players across all age divisions were given a promotional print of Energy Loto; Master League players were also given an Original Cap & T-shirt (Japanese: オリジナルデッキシールド). The top 32 players across all age divisions were given a set of Champions League card sleeves (Japanese: オリジナルデッキシールド Original Deck Shield); Junior League and Senior League players were also given the Original Cap & T-shirt. The champion, runner-up, and two third-place finishers in each division were awarded a Pokémon Japan Championships 2023 trophy and earned invitations to the 2023 World Championships.^[49]

2023 World Championships Pokémon Card Gym Sticker

In the buildup to Japan staging its first Pokémon World Championships, a campaign began on July 1, 2023 at participating Pokémon Card Gym venues that saw the distribution of a trading card-sized commemorative sticker. For as long as stocks lasted, people were given a copy of this sticker for each Gym Battle, New Release Battle, or Deck As Is Battle event they took part in (in addition to any other prizes they would normally earn). The front of the sticker featured the 2023 World Championships key visual, while the reverse featured a QR code for a prize lottery. People that followed the link and completed the questionnaire between August 11 and 13, 2023 were entered into a draw to win one of ten booster boxes.^[53]

As with previous "pro" sleeves, they were produced with a smooth matte finish to reduce resistance when shuffling. As such, they were sold at the higher price point of ¥990 in contrast to the ¥889 regular sleeves at the time.
The Greninja Damage Counter Case (Japanese: ダメカンケースゲッコウガ Damage Counter Case: Gekkouga) was ideal for storing smaller accessories, such as damage counters, Special Condition markers, or coins.

Select retailers were provided with displays by The Pokémon Company containing Playmat & Pokémon Coin Sets (Japanese: プレイマット＆ポケモンコインセット), which were free for customers to take. Each two-player playmat featured annotations for different areas of play on one side and a Pikachu on the other. The enclosed coin was a new design that also featured Pikachu.
As part of the ex Start Deck From Now On Battle Campaign (Japanese: exスタートデッキここからバトルキャンペーン), participating retailers selling the ex Start Decks gave away a flat-pack Original Mini Item Case (Japanese: オリジナルミニアイテムケース) with the purchase of two of the same product in a single transaction.^[57] Some retailers also gave away a Playmat and Coin and Original Mini Item Case (Japanese: プレイマットとコインとオリジナルミニアイテムケース) with the purchase of at least two ex Start Decks in one transaction. This included a copy of both the Playmat & Pokémon Coin Set and the Original Mini Item Case in the same packaging.

To promote the release of the ex Start Decks, select stores across Japan hosted Pokémon Card Game Kids Entry Battle 2023 (Japanese: ポケモンカードゲームキッズエントリーバトル 2023) events on weekends beginning July 15–16 through to September 30 and October 1, 2023 (this was initially set to end on the weekend of September 23–24 but three more stores were added in an announcement on September 22).^[58] Events were limited to elementary school-aged children and below, as well as their parents/guardians, and required participants to use one of the ex Start Decks (including the Random ex Start Deck) throughout. Two game types were held at each event: the Pokémon Card Game Beginner Battle (Japanese: ポケモンカードゲームはじめてバトル), which incorporated tutorials from event staff, and the Pokémon Card Game Free Battle (Japanese: ポケモンカードゲームフリーバトル), casual matches with those capable of playing the game. Participants of either event were given a Pokémon Card Game Kids Entry Battle 2023 Original Sticker (Japanese: 「ポケモンカードゲームキッズエントリーバトル2023」オリジナルステッカー), while those who won at least one game in the Pokémon Card Game Free Battle were given a Pokémon Card Game Kids Entry Battle 2023 Original Assembled Deck Case (Japanese: 「ポケモンカードゲームキッズエントリーバトル2023」オリジナル組み立て式デッキケース). Both items feature renders of the Pokémon ex from the eight standard ex Start Decks.

This included a selection of 66 tournament-tried Pokémon, Trainer, and Special Energy cards sourced from the Sword & Shield and Scarlet & Violet Eras, 104 Basic Energy cards, four organizational partition plates, an acrylic VSTAR marker, and ten Ruler of the Black Flame booster packs.

2023 World Championships Yokohama Deck: Pikachu

July 28, 2023 also saw the release of the 2023 World Championships Yokohama Deck: Pikachu (Japanese: ポケモンワールドチャンピオンシップス2023横浜記念デッキ「ピカチュウ」 Pokémon World Championships 2023 Yokohama Deck -Pikachu-), which commemorated the upcoming 2023 World Championships. Each 60-card deck comprised Mirror Holofoil reprints of cards from early Scarlet & Violet Era products and an exclusive special illustration rare-style Pikachu ex card. Each deck was also packaged with an aluminum deck tin, a coin, a pack of 64 premium matte card sleeves, and a sheet of cardboard damage counters and status markers. The deck could be purchased at Pokémon Centers and from the Pokémon Center Online. It was also sold at the Pokémon Center Worlds Store 2023 present at the tournament.

Darkness Tera Charizard merchandise: Ruler of the Black Flame was the first expansion to feature type-shifted Tera Pokémon ex. These items depict the focal Pokémon of the expansion, a Terastallized Charizard adorned with a Dark-type Tera Jewel. As with previous accessories that depicted Tera Pokémon, the sleeves were produced with a glossy finish and were sold at a higher price point. The playmat was also exclusive to Pokémon Centers and the Pokémon Center Online.

As part of continued promotions for the ex Start Decks, a collaborative campaign between the TCG and the NAKANO STYLING TANTO line of hair products began on August 1, 2023. Eight specially-branded hair product varieties were available at participating retailers, each of which focused on one of the types represented by the eight standard ex Start Decks. A special Promo Card Pack was given away with the purchase of any one product, which was enclosed with a Pokémon card and a Basic Energy card of a like type. While each pair of cards was the same, the pair enclosed was random and did not correlate to the Energy symbol featured on the hair product. All cards available as part of the promotion bear a NAKANO STYLING TANTO stamp.

Champions League 2024 merchandise

The first large-scale event of the domestic 2023-2024 season was held in Yokohama at the Pacifico Yokohama on September 9 and 10, 2023.^[64] Prospective players were required to register their interest between August 4 and 14, 2023 and places were allocated by lottery on August 18. It was also announced on the eve of the tournament that the start time of the Master League tournament would be delayed an hour due to the approaching Typhoon No. 13.^[65] The second event was the 2024 Kyoto Champions League, which was held at the Kyoto Pulse Plaza on December 23 and 24, 2023.^[66] People wishing to participate in the Kyoto event were required to register their interest between November 17 and 24, 2023 and places were allocated by lottery on December 1.^[67] The third event of the season was held in Fukuoka at the Marine Messe Fukuoka on February 17 and 18, 2024.^[68] Those wishing to participate in the Fukuoka event were required to register their interest between December 1, 2023 and January 19, 2024 and places were allocated by lottery on January 26.^[69] The fourth Champions League meeting was held at the Aichi International Exhibition Center in Tokoname on April 13 and 14, 2024.^[70] People wishing to participate in the Aichi event were required to register their interest between March 8 and 15, 2024 and places were allocated by lottery on March 22.^[71] The fifth and final Champions League meeting was held in Sapporo at the Sapporo Dome on May 3 and 4, 2024.^[72] People wishing to participate in the Sapporo event were required to register their interest between March 29 and April 5, 2024 and places were allocated by lottery on April 16 (initially scheduled for April 12 but delayed).^[73] Attendance at most venues was limited to players, staff, and the parents/guardians of younger players.

All entrants at a Champions League meeting were given a pair of promotional cards: a Holofoil Gimmighoul and one of eight Basic Energy cards selected at random. All of these cards feature a Championship Series 2024 stamp. A promotional Zapdos ex card was also given to players that won a predefined number of matches in a tournament. For those competing in the Junior League, this target was four wins, whereas those competing in the Senior and Master Leagues required five wins.^[74]^[75]^[76]^[77] The Aichi meeting also hosted an Open League, which had no age restriction and was played using the Extra Regulation format. The target for the Open League was also five wins.^[78]

Several side events were held at different venues. Possible TCG side events included the 4-League Battle, a four-player round robin mini tournament; the 8-League Battle, an eight-player single-elimination tournament; and the 3 on 3 Battle, a trio of single matches between three-member teams in a winner stays on format. These events were only open to Master League competitors on a tournament's first day, while those held on the second day were open to Junior and Senior League competitors, their parents/guardians, as well as Master League competitors who had advanced from the qualifying round. The 2024 Yokohama Champions League only held the 4-League Battle, which awarded one of the eight Basic Energy promos at random, as well as two random sticker sheets from a pool of eight to all participants.^[79] The eight sticker sheet variants distributed at the Yokohama event each featured a different Scarlet & Violet Era booster pack, ranging from Scarlet ex and Violet ex through to Raging Surf; all sheets also included a Champions League 2024 logo sticker and ten Energy symbol stickers. The 2024 Kyoto Champions League held the 4-League Battle, which awarded one random Basic Energy promo and two of four possible stickers to all participants. This meeting also had autograph sessions with the four current presenters of the Pokémon Card Channel, who were present at select times across the two days.^[80] The 2024 Fukuoka Champions League held the 4-League Battle and the 8-League Battle. Both events awarded a random Basic Energy promo and two of ten possible stickers to all those participating; however, prizes were only given to a single player once.^[81] The 2024 Aichi Champions League held the 4-League Battle, the 8-League Battle, and the 3 on 3 Battle. All three events awarded a random Basic Energy promo and two of twelve possible stickers to all those participating; however, participant prizes were only given to a single player once. Those placing first in each group of the 4-League Battle were given another participant sticker; those placing first in each group of the 8-League Battle were given a commemorative photo; teams achieving a maximum of three consecutive wins in the 3 on 3 Battle were also given an additional participant sticker.^[82] The 2024 Sapporo Champions League held the 4-League Battle, which awarded a random Basic Energy promo and two of twelve possible stickers to all participants. Those placing first in each group were given two more stickers. This meeting also held a second Scramble Battle, which was open to main tournament competitors and those who pre-registered prior to the event. Scramble Battle participants could also take part in the 4-League Battle.^[83] The participant stickers distributed at meetings following the Yokohama event each featured different Pokémon ex cards from Scarlet & Violet Era expansions.

While the tournaments had limited attendance, a couple of venues also had public areas open to everyone. At the 2024 Kyoto Champions League, people could use the Mega Pokémon Gacha machine present, shop for TCG products at the Pokémon Card Game Sales Corner, and watch games from the tournament in a dedicated Public Viewing hall.^[84] The 2024 Aichi and Sapporo Champions League meetings similarly featured the Mega Pokémon Gacha machine and Pokémon Card Game Sales Corner. They also had a Teaching Corner for newcomers to the TCG, an area for autograph sessions with the four Pokémon Card Channel presenters, and spectator seating for the final rounds on the Feature Stage.^[85]^[86]

The Master League tournaments at each venue were live-streamed on video platforms NicoNico and YouTube, during which prizes could be won through Twitter campaigns. People wishing to enter a competition were required to follow the accounts of the official Pokémon Card Channel and its presenters Raichu Umekawa, Nanapple, Kucheat Takeuchi, and Yopifoot, and post messages of support. Two lottery draws were held in conjunction with the broadcast of the Yokohama Master League tournament—people were required to post with the hashtag #ポケカCL2024横浜予選, Pokéca CL2024 Yokohama Qualifying Round on the first day and post with the hashtag #ポケカCL2024横浜本戦, Pokéca CL2024 Yokohama Main Battle on the second. The broadcast of the Kyoto Master League tournament held two draws, which required people to post with the hashtag #ポケカCL2024京都予選, Pokéca CL2024 Kyoto Qualifying Round on the day one and with the hashtag #ポケカCL2024京都本戦, Pokéca CL2024 Kyoto Main Battle on day two. Two draws were held for the Fukuoka Master League tournament, which required people to use the hashtag #ポケカCL2024福岡予選, Pokéca CL2024 Fukuoka Qualifying Round in posts during day one and use the hashtag #ポケカCL2024福岡本戦, Pokéca CL2024 Fukuoka Main Battle in posts during day two. Two draws were conducted for the Aichi Master League, which required people to use the hashtag #ポケカCL2024愛知予選, Pokéca CL2024 Aichi Qualifying Round in posts during the first day of the competition and use the hashtag #ポケカCL2024愛知本戦, Pokéca CL2024 Aichi Main Battle in posts during the second day. Two draws were also held for the Sapporo Master League, which required people to use the hashtag #ポケカCL2024札幌予選, Pokéca CL2024 Sapporo Qualifying Round in posts during the first day's activity and use the hashtag #ポケカCL2024札幌本戦, Pokéca CL2024 Sapporo Main Battle in posts during the second day. Twenty winners were selected from each draw, each of which received a copy of the Gimmighoul participant promo and one random Energy participant promo.^[87]^[88]^[89]^[90]^[91]

The top 64 players in all leagues were given a promotional print of Defiance Band. The top 32 players in all leagues were also given a set of card sleeves (Japanese: オリジナルデッキシールド Original Deck Shield) featuring a stylized Champions League emblem.^[92] The top finishers of each league category in a Champions League meeting were awarded Victory Symbol cards presented in trophy cases. Gold variants were given to those finishing first, silver ones were given to the runners-up, and bronze variants were given to the losing semi-finalists.

Raging Surf became available from September 22, 2023 and was the third Enhanced Expansion Pack of the Scarlet & Violet Era. The subset was complemented with a pair of 60-card decks, one of which was the Terastal Starter Set Mewtwo ex (Japanese: スターターセットテラスタルミュウツーex). This deck comprised mostly Psychic-type Pokémon and featured a Lightning-type Tera Mewtwo ex as its primary attacker. Its accessories included damage counters and Special Condition markers, a coin, a 2-player playmat, and a play guide.

Mela merchandise: These two items depict Mela, the boss of Team Star's Schedar Squad. The illustrations by yuriko_pro^[97] feature a battle-ready Mela atop the Schedar Starmobile and Mela alongside her Armarouge and Houndoom. Slither Wing and Iron Moth merchandise: These items collectively feature the Paradox Pokémon Slither Wing and Iron Moth, both said to be relatives of Volcarona. Other sleeves: The Aegislash Premium Gloss Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールドプレミアム・グロスギルガルド Deck Shield Premium•Gloss: Gillgard) were the only standalone design to launch as part of this wave of products, which feature the Royal Sword Pokémon Aegislash in both is Sword Forme and Shield Forme. The illustration used on the sleeves was created by Kagemaru Himeno,^[99] and the sleeves could only be found at Pokémon Centers and the Pokémon Center Online.

Pokémon Card Gym Promo Card Pack 4

Pokémon Card Gym locations began to distribute Promo Card Packs with the launch of the Ancient Roar and Future Flash expansions on October 27, 2023.^[100] People could begin earning packs by participating in Gym Battle events, New Release Battle events, or other events held at a store's discretion. Each pack contained one of seven possible SV-P Promotional cards, which comprised alternate-art prints from Ancient Roar and Future Flash, as well as some brand new cards. Each of these cards also bears the Pokémon Card Gym logo.

Venusaur & Charizard & Blastoise Special Deck Set ex

The Venusaur & Charizard & Blastoise Special Deck Set ex (Japanese: スペシャルデッキセットex フシギバナ・リザードン・カメックス Special Deck Set ex: Fushigibana•Lizardon•Kamex) was a deck kit released on November 10, 2023. It included three 60-card decks built around the final evolutions of the Kanto first partner Pokémon—Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise—each of which were featured as Pokémon ex cards. Each deck comprised Pokémon, Trainer, and Energy cards sourced from the Sword & Shield and Scarlet & Violet Eras. As an added bonus, the Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise decks respectively incorporated illustration rare-style prints of Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. The Special Deck Set ex was also packaged with three coins, a pair of damage counter/condition marker sheets, a 2-player playmat, a beginner's guide, an instruction manual, three player's guides, and a damage counter case.

More entries in the Pokémon Trainers product line began to release at Pokémon Centers and the Pokémon Center Online on September 16, 2023 featuring many characters from Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, all of which were illustrated by Megumi Mizutani.^[102] The initial wave of products included acrylic stands, towels, stickers, keychains, clear files, glassware, charms, clothing, notebooks, and plush mascots. An array of TCG items bearing the same designs was later released alongside the Venusaur & Charizard & Blastoise Special Deck Set ex on November 10, 2023 exclusively through Pokémon Centers and the Pokémon Center Online.

Deck cases: Each deck case can store up to 180 loose cards and can be secured shut with hook-and-loop fasteners. Deck cases were also packaged with a pair of organizational card dividers.

The Pokémon Trainers: Paldea Edition Deck Case (Japanese: デッキケース POKÉMON TRAINERS ～パルデア編～) feature chibi versions of prominent Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Trainers and their Pokémon.

Arven is offering Sandwiches in the illustration, and a Sandwich icon is present in the bottom right of it.

File: Each 4-ring Pokémon Trainers: Paldea Edition Collection File (Japanese: コレクションファイル POKÉMON TRAINERS ～パルデア編～) came with ten 9-pocket sheets and could accommodate up to 20 sheets, allowing up to 360 cards to be held. Files featured photograph arrangements of various Trainers and their Pokémon. Packs of ten Pokémon Trainers: Paldea Edition Collection Refill (Japanese: コレクションリフィル POKÉMON TRAINERS ～パルデア編～) sheets were sold separately. Refills were packaged with a divider featuring the same illustrations as the file, albeit composed differently.

Tera ex Start Decks

Copies of the Random ex Start Deck sold alongside the eight fixed ex Start Decks on July 7, 2023 could include one of two secret decks that focused on Dragon or Colorless-type Pokémon. These decks differed slightly by including Tera Pokémon ex as their main attackers, which were also Holofoil, unlike the Pokémon ex from the standard decks. The Tera Dragonite ex Start Deck (Japanese: exスタートデッキテラスタルカイリュー ex Start Deck Terastal Kairyu) and Tera Greedent ex Start Deck (Japanese: exスタートデッキテラスタルヨクバリス ex Start Deck Terastal Yokubarisu) were subsequently released as separate products on November 24, 2023 and could be purchased at Pokémon Centers, participating Pokémon Card Gym locations, and from the Pokémon Center Online.

High Class Packs fulfill a similar role to Enhanced Expansion Packs in that they typically release between main expansions; however, they are usually released towards the end of a Regulation block and act as retrospectives of preceding sets, consisting mostly of reprints, as well as featuring cards with alternate or special artwork. The Shiny Treasure ex subset was the first High Class Pack of the Scarlet & Violet Era and was released on December 1, 2023. This release also saw several related items of TCG merchandise become available.

Armarouge and Ceruledge merchandise: These items featured evolutionary compatriots Armarouge and Ceruledge as illustrated by Hitoshi Ariga.^[103] The collection file could only be found at Pokémon Centers and on the Pokémon Center Online, while the other items had a more general retail release.

Other playmat: The Full-Size Rubber Playmat Version 2 (Japanese: ラバープレイマットフルサイズ Ver.2) was a red version of the playmat released during the Sun & Moon Era, which emulates the very first fabric playmats available during the Original Era. Each playmat provides an adequate playing surface for two players to conduct games. They were only sold from Pokémon Centers and the Pokémon Center Online.

The Shiny Kingambit Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールド色違いのドドゲザン Deck Shield: Differently Colored Dodogezan) feature an illustration by Raita Kazama^[107] that dpeicts a Shiny Kingambit commanding a cadre of Bisharp and Pawniard.
The Iono Zone Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールドドンナモンジャTV Deck Shield: Donnamonja TV) feature a chibi illustration of Gym Leader Iono. The same art appears in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet on a billboard in Levincia.

Terastal Battle merchandise

Pokémon Card Gym locations hosted Terastal Battle events between December 1, 2023 and February 29, 2024, which were Standard Regulation single-elimination tournaments with the added condition that players use at least two Tera Pokémon ex in their decks. All participants were given a random Terastal Battle Divider (Japanese: テラスタルバトル仕切り板) for use with deck cases or card boxes. Ten designs were available, each of which featured a different Energy symbol against an appropriately colored crystalline background. Winners of these tournaments were given three more random Terastal Battle Dividers and an event sticker; those placing second were given two more dividers, while the two losing semifinalists were each given one more divider.^[109] More Terastal Battle tournaments were hosted at Pokémon Card Gyms between July 19 and September 30, 2024. All participants of these events were given two random Terastal Battle Dividers. Winners of rock paper scissors competitions held after each Terastal Battle tournament were also given a random Terastal Battle Divider.^[110]

Extra Battle Day Promo Card Pack

Another installment of Extra Battle Day events began to be held at Pokémon Card Gym venues from January 1, 2024. These events were single-elimination tournaments that used the Extra Regulation format (equivalent to the Expanded format outside Japan). For as long as stocks lasted, every participant was given a promotional print of Raihan with new artwork and an Extra Battle Day Promo Card Pack, which contained one of twelve possible SV-P Promotional cards. Much like the 2022/2023 edition, these cards comprised reprints of popular cards from past Eras with an Extra Battle Day logo stamp. Players that won a game were given an additional pack, while the tournament winners were given two more packs.^[111]

A pair of Starter Deck & Build Sets accompanied the dual Wild Force and Cyber Judge expansion on January 26, 2024. The Ancient Koraidon ex Starter Deck & Build Set (Japanese: スターターデッキ＆ビルドセット「古代のコライドンex」) included a 60-card deck built around Koraidon ex, which supported the Ancient mechanic, plus 168 cards from both the Sword & Shield Era and the Scarlet & Violet Era for experimentation. Each set also included a sheet of damage counters and status markers, a coin, a VSTAR marker, a playmat, a player's guide, and deck modification tips.

This set included a 60-card deck that featured Future Miraidon ex cards as its main attackers, plus an array of useful Pokémon, Trainer, and Energy cards from both the previous and current Era to experiment with. Each set was also packaged with damage counters and Special Condition markers, a coin, a VSTAR marker, a playmat, a player's guide, and a card with deck modification tips.

A pair of card boxes that resembled the Scarlet Book and Violet Book were also available at Pokémon Centers and from the Pokémon Center Online. Once assembled, each box could store up to 1,500 loose cards or up to 900 sleeved cards and could be secured with magnetic closure. Boxes were also packaged with six organizational dividers.

January 26, 2024 saw the start of the next Pokémon Card Gym season cycle and the distribution of new prizes at approved locations. Seven SV-P Promotional cards were available in the fifth Pokémon Card Gym Promo Card Pack, which comprised four new cards and, for the first time, reprints of cards from the start of the Era with no alternative artwork. These cards were specifically chosen as they were popular and useful for beginners when modifying their decks.^[123] Packs contained one random card.

Event Organizers running Endorsed Independent Events began to distribute a new wave of special packs in time with the Wild Force and Cyber Judge expansions on January 26, 2024. Each Endorsed Independent Event Trainer's Pack contained one random card from a pool of nine SV-P Promotional cards, all of which featured an Event Organizer logo. Some of these cards were reissues of those available in the 2023 packs.

Scramble Battle merchandise

The Scramble Battle was a large-scale casual Standard Regulation event introduced in 2024, which employed the use of competitor's smartphones to match players after games without waiting for other games to end—a format dubbed "real-time Swiss draw". The Pokémon Company would look to implement the format in future events if it trialed successfully.

The first event was held at the Ariake GYM-EX, Tokyo on March 2, 2024.^[124] People wishing to take part in this event could apply through the Pokémon Card Game Players Club. The primary acceptance period was open between February 2 and 13, 2024 and places were allocated by lottery on February 16. A secondary acceptance period was open between February 20 and 29 and places were allocated on a first come, first served basis.^[125] A second Scramble Battle was held as a side event during the 2024 Sapporo Champions League at the Sapporo Dome on May 3 and 4, 2024.^[126] Participants of the main Champions League tournament were free to enter, while others wishing to take part could apply through the Pokémon Card Game Players Club between April 17 and May 1, 2024 to assure a spot or enter on the day.^[127] A third Scramble Battle served as the final large-scale domestic event for the 2023-2024 season and was held at Twin Messe Shizuoka on August 10 and 11, 2024.^[128] People could apply for places at this event through the Pokémon Card Game Players Club. The acceptance period was open between July 12 and 22, 2024 and places were allocated by lottery on July 24.^[129] The second day of the Shizuoka event was also eligible for "friend applications", which ensured groups of between two and five people would receive the same lottery results.^[130] All prospective players were required to have a smartphone and a LINE account for the draw system.

At the Tokyo and Sapporo events, as well as on the second day at the Shizuoka event, players earned the right to purchase one Pokémon Card Lottery (Japanese: ポケカくじ Pokéca Lottery) e-ticket for each game they participated in. Players that participated in four or more games were given a Scramble Battle Can Badge (Japanese: スクランブルバトル缶バッジ). Players that won at least four games were given a Fighting Spirit Prize Sticker (Japanese: 敢闘賞ステッカー); those achieving the maximum seven wins were also given a Complete Victory Prize Sticker (Japanese: 全勝賞ステッカー).^[131]^[132] On the first day of the Shizuoka event, participants received five Pokémon Card Lottery e-tickets regardless of their results and were given a Fighting Spirit Prize Sticker if they played at least eight games. Players that won at least seven games would earn priority application status for the first day of competition in the Tokyo 2025 Champions League; players that won eight games would also earn the right to a first round bye.^[133]

After deciding to finish playing, participants could collect any prizes they earned and purchase any accumulated Pokémon Card Lottery e-tickets at the Pokémon Card Lottery Corner. Each ticket cost ¥600. At the Tokyo event, players could opt for the Standard lottery or the Extra lottery (they could not select a mixture).^[134] Each lottery type offered seven prizes:^[135]

The Family Pokémon Card Game line of products released during the Sun & Moon and Sword & Shield Eras was rebranded for its Scarlet & Violet incarnation as Battle Academy (Japanese: バトルアカデミー), much like the equivalent products available outside Asia. The core audience of the kit remained children and their families, which were catered for with the inclusion of four simple 60-card decks featuring Sprigatito ex, Pikachu ex, Lucario ex, and Greninja ex. Each set also included literature in the form of beginner's guides and a step-up guide, plus several accessories: a cardboard sheet containing damage counters and status markers, a full-size playmat, a set of four color-coded deck bands, a card tidying-up partition, three card dividers, and a damage counter case. The Battle Academy became available for general sale on March 8, 2024.

It was available to purchase on the same day and included a copy of the Sprigatito ex deck and the Pikachu ex deck, a pair of single-player playmats, a coin, a sheet of damage counters and status markers, and a damage counter storage envelope. The Pokémon ex cards in these decks were Non Holfoil in contrast to those from the full-size Battle Academy.

Acrylic Damage Counter & Case Set

An accessory pack in the form of the Acrylic Damage Counter & Case Set (Japanese: アクリルダメカン＆ケースセット) was released alongside the Battle Academy products on March 8, 2024. Each set included six acrylic 100-damage counters, eight acrylic 50-damage counters, twenty acrylic 10-damage counters, a pair of aluminum/epoxy resin Special Condition markers, a coin bearing the Pokémon ex logo, and a tin case to store them all in. Pokémon Dragon King Cup 2024 Wooden VSTAR Marker

The fifth instalment of the Dragon King Cup was held at the Cerulean Tower Noh Theater in Shibuya, Tokyo on February 25, 2024.^[143] The event held tournaments for the video games, the Trading Card Game, and Pokémon UNITE, and was livestreamed between 09:00 and 20:59 JST on YouTube, Twitter, and NicoNico.^[144] During this time, people could participate in a Twitter campaign to win a Pokémon Dragon King Cup 2024 Wooden VSTAR Marker (Japanese: ポケモン竜王戦2024木製VSTARマーカー Pokémon Dragon King Battle 2024 Wooden VSTAR Marker), copies of which were used during the TCG tournament. Participants were required to follow the Pokémon Information Bureau (Poké Times) Twitter account and repost the Tweet^[145] made by them on the day of the event. Fifty people selected by lottery won a copy of the marker.^[146] Winners began receiving their prizes in late March 2024 enclosed with a congratulatory letter.^[147]^[148]

POKÉMON CARD LOUNGE merchandise

In conjunction with the renovation of SHIBUYA TSUTAYA in Tokyo, operator Culture Convenience Club partnered with The Pokémon Company to create a space dedicated to the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The result was the POKÉMON CARD LOUNGE, a space in the image of an executive lounge with specially made tables and chairs. Opened on April 25, 2024, the lounge offers seating for 82 people (78 on the main floor space and four in a Private Room) and features a subdued color scheme that incorporates Energy symbol motifs.

The price for a 60-minute session on the main floor space was ¥1,650 per person; 30-minute extensions could also purchased for ¥660 per person. The Private Room could be hired out for ¥8,250 per hour, with 30-minute extensions costing ¥3,300 each. Three-hour block sessions could also be purchased on the main floor space for ¥3,650 per person; the Private Room could similarly be hired for the same amount of time for ¥18,500. Measures were taken to make players of all levels feel welcome, therefore all items required for conducting games could be rented free of charge, including an array of 60-card standard decks. All POKÉMON CARD LOUNGE patrons were given a random commemorative Welcome Card (Japanese: ウェルカムカード) that could be used as a deck case divider. Eleven designs were available, each of which featured a different Energy symbol on the front; the reverse included spaces for people to detail the date of their visit, decks used, and their play experience. The lounge also featured a self-service counter that offered free drinks and snacks, a gallery area that displayed six large Pokémon card decorations, and a merchandise area that sold recent TCG products and exclusive POKÉMON CARD LOUNGE-branded items. Entry to the merchandise area was free. The majority of these items used the same Energy symbol motif used throughout the lounge.^[149]^[150]^[151]

A pair of decks designed with competitive play in mind was released on May 17, 2024. The Battle Master Deck: Tera Charizard ex (Japanese: バトルマスターデッキテラスタルリザードンex Battle Master Deck: Terastal Lizardon ex) was similar to League Battle Decks sold outside Asia, in that it focused on a popular deck archetype and provided a selection of tournament-tried cards. Each 60-card deck comprised mostly Fire and Colorless-type Pokémon and featured an alternate-art Darkness-type Tera Charizard ex as its primary attacker. The deck also included a set of 64 sleeves, a sheet of damage counters and status markers, a single-player playmat, a coin, a VSTAR marker, a how to play guide, and a Path to Battle Master player's guide.

Ogerpon Special Jumbo Card Set

The Ogerpon Special Jumbo Card Set (Japanese: スペシャルジャンボカードセットオーガポン) was also released on May 17, 2024. Each set included regular-sized and oversized copies of an Art Rare-style Teal Mask Ogerpon promotional card, a promotional Mirror Holofoil print of Ogre's Mask, an Ogerpon coin, and eight Transformation Mask booster packs. Similar to a trio of products released at the end of the Sword & Shield Era, the set also came with a cardboard stand suitable to display the enclosed Jumbo card.

All were initially exclusive to Pokémon Centers and the Pokémon Center Online, with the possibility of some becoming available at official Pokémon Stores and through Amazon's Pokémon Store at a later date.

Hyper Beam merchandise: These items feature vignettes of Dragonite, Porygon, Snorlax, Gyarados, Tauros, and Aerodactyl drawn with limited color palettes and halftone squares to evoke their Generation I sprites. The Pokémon are depicted preparing to use the move Hyper Beam and are set against backgrounds resembling the disrupted graphics associated with glitches. Other images feature Dragonite, Porygon, and Snorlax recharging after using Hyper Beam. The artwork was initially created for a Pokémon Center merchandise line that launched in November 2023.

Each Hyper Beam Deck Case (Japanese: デッキケースはかいこうせん Deck Case: Destruction Beam) could store up to 180 cards and was packaged with two organizational dividers.

yonayonaGhost merchandise: These products use illustrations created for a Pokémon Center merchandise line that launched on June 24, 2023, which included soft toys, keychains, stationery, glassware, towels, handkerchiefs, tins, and a diffuser. Some of that merchandise also incorporated phosphorescent elements. The TCG products feature Duskull, Gastly, Shedinja, Phantump, Misdreavus, Hisuian Zorua, and Greavard against a pattern of items associated with Ghost-type Pokémon: Odd Keystones, Yamask masks, Runerigus slab pieces, Alolan Marowak bone clubs, Galarian Corsola husks, Gimmighoul chests, Greavard candles, generic ghosts, and Spell Tags. Yonayona can translate as "night after night".

The sleeves utilize an illustration created for a merchandise line launched at the start of February 2024, which also featured Toxel, Gulpin, Mareanie, and Vileplume.
The What's Your Charm Point? Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールド What's your charm point? Deck Shield: What's your charm point?) feature nine Pokémon selected for the appeal of their physical features or traits: Toucannon, Spinda, Gholdengo, Darumaka, Pikachu, Budew, Tinkaton, Hero Form Palafin, and Rotom. The illustrations were first used as part of a December 2023 Pokémon Center merchandise campaign.

Pokémon Japan Championships 2024 merchandise

The 2024 Pokémon Japan Championships served as the culmination of the Japanese 2023-2024 domestic season, which saw players of the video games, the Trading Card Game, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE vie for the title of national champion. The Championships were held at the Pacifico Yokohama convention center in Yokohama, Kanagawa on June 1 and 2, 2024.^[156] Those wishing to enter the TCG competition could apply through the Pokémon Card Game Players Club between April 26 and May 7, 2024. Priority was given to the top 16 Junior, Senior, and Open League players, as well as the top 32 Masters League players from 2024 Champions League events, winners of 2024 City League events from Seasons 1 through 4, and players who had earned a sufficient number of Championship Points (CSP) up to May 8, 2024. Places were selected through lottery draws by May 10.^[157]

All TCG competition entrants were given a promotional Gimmighoul card and a random promotional Basic Energy card. Junior League players who won at least four games during the event were also given a promotional Zapdos ex card, as were Senior League and Master League players who won at least five games.^[158] The Master League tournament was also live-streamed on video platforms NicoNico and YouTube, during which people could participate in Twitter competitions. Those wishing to partake were required to follow the accounts of the official Pokémon Card Channel and its presenters Raichu Umekawa, Nanapple, Kucheat Takeuchi, and Yopifoot, and post messages. Those doing so during the broadcast on the first day of the Championships with the hashtag #ポケカPJCS2024予選, Pokéca PJCS2024 Qualifying Round were entered into a prize lottery, as were those who posted with the hashtag #ポケカPJCS2024本戦, Pokéca PJCS2024 Main Battle during the second day's broadcast. Twenty winners were selected from each draw, each of which received a copy of the Gimmighoul participant promo and one random Energy participant promo.^[159]

Commemorative items for the event were made available for the first time since the 2019 Championships. Merchandise could be ordered from the Pokémon Center Online starting May 30, 2024 or could be purchased from the sales corner during the Championships.^[160] All of these items feature the key art created for the event.

More casual side events were also open to players of each medium. Only competition entrants and the parents/guardians of younger players could participate on the first day; spectators selected by lottery could also participate on the second day. The first day hosted 4-League Battles (a four-player round robin mini tournament) and 3 on 3 Battles (a trio of single matches between three-member teams in a winner stays on format) for the video games and the TCG. The second day expanded these events to incorporate Pokémon GO players and hosted an additional One Game Battle for Pokémon UNITE players using Tournament Mode. All participants of these events were given one of four possible PJCS2024 stickers at random. Those placing first in each group in 4-League Battles and teams that won three games in a row in 3 on 3 Battles were also given another random sticker as a victory prize.^[161]

The top 64 tournament players across all age divisions were given a promotional print of Defiance Band; Master League players were also given a competitor-exclsuive Original Cap & T-shirt (Japanese: オリジナルキャップ＆Tシャツ). The top 32 players across all age divisions were given a set of the season's Champions League card sleeves (Japanese: オリジナルデッキシールド Original Deck Shield); Junior League and Senior League players were also given the competitor-exclsuive Original Cap & T-shirt. The champion, runner-up, and two third-place finishers in each division were awarded a Pokémon Japan Championships 2024 trophy^[162] and earned invitations to the 2024 World Championships.^[158]

Other sleeves: An illustration by Raita Kazama^[169] was used on Stellar Tera Type Lapras Premium Gloss Sleeves (Japanese: デッキシールドプレミアム・グロステラスタイプ：ステララプラス Deck Shield Premium•Gloss: Teras Type: Stellar Laplace), which were also available in this wave of products. The sleeves feature a Terastallized Lapras with a Stellar-type Tera Jewel and reference one of the Tera Pokémon ex that could be found in the Stellar Miracle expansion. This product could only be purchased from Pokémon Centers and the Pokémon Center Online on its launch date.

The seventh Pokémon Card Gym Promo Card Pack of the Scarlet & Violet Era could be officially distributed at Pokémon Card Gym locations starting July 19, 2024.^[170] Each pack included one promo card featuring the Pokémon Card Gym logo. Although packs advertised seven cards were available in total, reprints of Professor's Research could feature Professor Sada or Professor Turo, making a pool of eight. This pool also comprised a reprint of Super Rod, four new Pokémon cards, and a new Supporter card.
